Assistant Technology Specialist
Schedule:  Mon - Fri 9am-5pm (flexible hybrid)   Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 /year   The Assistive Technology Specialist will help persons served obtain digital devices and develop digital skills using best practices as the acting Assistive Technology Professional (ATP). Working alongside Technology Navigators working on the Digital Equity team, the Assistive Technology Specialist will support Vinfen's growing assistive technology program and will assist with the goal of increasing the use of assistive technology in the lives of individuals served. The Assistive Technology Specialist will support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to reach their goals largely through the use of assistive technology.

Responsibilities include: Partners with Digital Equity's Tech Navigators to expand efforts in providing access to technology (e.g. smartphones, laptops, tablets) and digital literacy support to Vinfen clients. Acts as the Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) for the Digital Equity team Works with Occupational Therapists (OT) to support assistive technology for individuals within DS. Supports Tech Navigators on use of accessibility features related to the internet-enabled devices they distribute. Documents and understands processes for assessing client needs and making referrals. Supports the creation of protocols for deciding when to serve clients internally or when to refer elsewhere. Utilizes Vinfen's lending library to provide technology access or support equipment referrals to the Department of Developmental Services (DDS). Uses a client-centered approach to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including residential staff, caregivers, family members, and clinicians to develop goals related to meaningful and functional applications of assistive technology. Recommends, implements and monitors effectiveness of assistive technology solutions to improve independence, communication, mobility and quality of life. Provides training and support to individuals, family, and staff on the use of assistive technology devices and software. Stays updated on emerging assistive technology trends, products, and methodologies through professional development and research. Maintains accurate documentation and assessments, recommendations and interventions in case conferences and other collaborative activities to ensure coordinated care and support. Collaborates with administrative and leadership teams to enhance the assistive technology
program's development at Vinfen. Performs other duties as assigned
