Assistant Transportation Manager
Overview JOB SUMMARY: Supervises day-to-day transportation functions to ensure driver performance, DOT requirements, customer satisfaction, and that Department and Company objectives for efficiency, reliability, and productivity are met or exceeded. + Must be able to work PM shift + Must be flexible with schedule Pay is commensurate with experience. This position is bonus eligible. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: + Assists supervisors and manager in planning, implements, and monitors day-to-day transportation operations, including analysis of KPI’s-on-time reports, delivery reliability, off-load rate, and manpower needs. (25%) + Reviews and schedules daily routing of equipment and manpower with respect to DOT regulations to meet customer needs in terms of contractual guidelines if required, order fulfillment, special deliveries, supplemental deliveries, back hauls, etc. (20%) + Resolves equipment failures or break-downs, providing advice and assistance to drivers, as well as submitting appropriate reports to the Penske truck leasing group for service and repair. (15%) + Motivates employees, including counseling and problem resolution, to achieve a positive work environment. (20%) + Supervises employees, including interpretation of rules in a union work environment, conflict resolution, and advises with disciplinary action as required working closely with the transportation manager and other transportation supervisors. (10%) + Updates routing programs (Samsara, Paragon) on a daily basis, including review of drivers’ on-board computer reports to ensure that goals for efficiency and timeliness are met. (10%) + Performs other related and assigned duties as necessary. LEADERSHIP/MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY Supervises up to 30 or more employees, including hourly staff. Oversees operations with significant impact on GSF customer relations. Experience: 3 to 6 years of work experience in transportation or food distribution, including supervisory responsibilities in a non-union and/or union work environments.
