Come join us #WorkforBoca SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday Up to 25 hours per week; hours will vary GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK: Performs intermediate semiskilled work assisting in the repair and maintenance of automotive and specialized equipment; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision. Essential Functions + Changes fluids and filters; checks brakes and electrical equipment; repairs as necessary; + Diagnoses problems using specialized diagnostic equipment; + Repairs hydraulics on heavy equipment; repairs air leaks and main valves; + Repairs hydraulic cylinders in trucks and lines to main valves; + Adjusts and repairs charging systems and cooling systems; + Corrects faulty air conditioning systems; + Repairs and overhauls brakes, ignition and fuel systems, transmissions, differentials, and front and rear axle assemblies; + Performs scheduled preventive maintenance service on vehicles and equipment. RELATED TASKS: + Performs related tasks as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities General knowledge of the methods, tools, and equipment used in the repair of automotive passenger cars, trucks and maintenance equipment; General knowledge of shop tools, such as drills, presses, grinders, micrometers, brake relining, and drum grinding machines; Skill in the use and the operation of tools and machinery used in automotive repair work; Ability to keep records of repairs and service operation and to make reports. Minimum and Preferred Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: + Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school: and + Six (6) months of experience in repairing automotive, construction, and specialized equipment. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: + Possession of valid State of Florida Class "B" CDL driver's license with no more than six (6) points in a three (3) year period. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift, carry and push articles weighing up to 50 lbs. Must be able to wear hard hat/helmet, safety glasses, goggles, safety harnesses, safety shoes, hearing protector, gloves, and welder's helmet. Exposure to noise, moving mechanical parts, vibration, dust, vapors, fumes, toxic metals, mist, gases, and smoke. CITY OF BOCA RATON - BENEFITS SUMMARY Part-Time Employees ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: To be eligible to receive Paid Leave and to contribute to the 457 Deferred Compensation Plan, a part-time employee must have worked at least 1,040 hours in the prior fiscal year PAID LEAVE: Employees who work a minimum of 1,040 hours per fiscal year will receive twelve (12) hours of Paid Leave on October 1st. This Paid Leave shall be used no later than September 30th of that fiscal year or it will be forfeited. These hours may not accumulate and may only be granted with the approval of the employee's supervisor. This paid leave has no cash value at separation of employment. MISSION SQUARE 457 DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN: Employees who work a minimum of 1,040 hours per fiscal year will be allowed to participate in the 457 Deferred Compensation Plan. The City will not provide any matching funds.
