Leading role in managing a complex process for monthly forecasting, as well as annual one- and five-year plans processes. Including the following:
Project management, execution, and executive presentations
Liaising with senior management in underwriting, IT and actuarial
Working with a complex forecast production tool and operate a forecast earnings model
Producing various management financial reports with analysis supporting insurance ratios, trends, and other key performance indicators for executive management
Leading monthly and quarterly general ledger close activities, including but not limited to reviewing journal entries, data analysis and various reconciliations. This work requires clear documentation, timely submission of files, follow up with other stakeholders for resolution of issues and escalation to management in a timely manner for unresolved issues
Leading quarter end management reporting for executive presentations
Leading process improvement and reengineering initiatives with recommendations and project management from design phase to user acceptance testing
Managing the annual and quarterly statutory filing for class 4 insurer and preparation of quarterly board pack materials, including but not limited to developing and maintaining capital models that will be used to measure and assess the organization's capital adequacy
Completing of various ad hoc requests, including but not limited to preparing bespoke reports and analysis for management and providing analytical support and project work for the Operations team
Ensuring adherence to internal controls and maintain process documentation
Co-ordinating work efforts with various department heads in Bermuda and in various offices overseas. Keep management informed on the status of various tasks and projects
Delegating effectively to shared resources, supervising performance, review work product and provide feedback and coaching
A professional designation (CA or CPA preferred)
A minimum of five years of accounting insurance experience with:
A minimum of one year demonstrated experience managing a team. Assigning and reviewing work product, including some management of a remote team
At least two years in-depth experience working with Bermuda’s class 4 risk-based capital model as well as demonstrated ability to analyze and discuss insurance industry key performance indicators
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and present project management visuals to track progress
Experience working with GENIUS or PeopleSoft would be an asset
Experience using processes that requires the use of complex underwriting database and financial reporting software would be an asset
Strong Microsoft Excel skills
