Job Title: Interim Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Finance
Location: Hartford, Connecticut
Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Interim Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Finance to join our Client's team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in full cycle accounting and a strong background in higher education finance. This role is critical in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the institution during this interim period.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the full cycle accounting process, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting.Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as institutional policies and procedures.Prepare and present financial statements, budget reports, and financial forecasts to senior leadership and the Board of Trustees.Manage the annual budget process, including the development, implementation, and monitoring of the budget.Provide strategic financial guidance and support to various departments and units within the institution.Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.Collaborate with external auditors during the annual audit process and ensure timely and accurate completion of audit requirements.Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.Participate in strategic planning initiatives and provide financial analysis to support decision-making.Monitor cash flow, investments, and debt management to ensure the institution's financial stability.Conduct financial risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate potential financial risks.Oversee grant management and compliance, ensuring proper allocation and reporting of grant funds.Coordinate with other administrative departments to streamline financial operations and improve overall institutional effectiveness.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred.Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with at least 5 years in a higher education setting.Demonstrated experience in full cycle accounting and financial management.Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting processes.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Proficiency in financial software and systems, such as ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.Proven leadership and team management abilities.High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.Experience with grant management and compliance in a higher education context.Ability to work collaboratively with various departments and external partners.Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Work Environment:
Office setting in Hartford, CT.Flexible summer schedule based on demand.Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $57.69 - $72.12/hr.
