Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Assistant Vice President for Health and Wellbeing. - Boca Raton, FL.

The Assistant Vice President for Health and Wellbeing (AVP) serves as a senior leader responsible for advancing the overall health and wellness strategy of the organization.

Summary of responsibilities:

Managing and enhancing a comprehensive suite of services, programs, and initiatives aimed at promoting the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of the community and promoting a healthy campus climate.

Create a vision to align existing resources for collaboration, including internal and external stakeholders, throughout the university, lead a multi-disciplinary team of health professionals, and develop policies and strategies that foster a culture of health, wellness, and resilience. This vision will be measured by creation of goals and outcomes that will be assessed to enhance key indicators for student success as well as established best practices.

Oversee and/or coordinate education and prevention efforts related to student mental and behavioral health and well-being, student physical health, nutritional health, substance use, and a healthy campus climate.

Serves as a thought leader in the areas of student health and well-being as a function of overall public health, and is responsible for interpreting and upholding federal, state, and university policies.

Must be visible on campus and within the community, serving as a leading voice in the area of health and well-being.

Serves on the University’s Emergency Operations Team. 

Supervises the directors of Counseling and Psychological Services, Student Health Services, and Owls Care Health Promotion.

Serves as liaison partnership with the Department of Campus Recreation.  

Work very closely with the Office of the Dean of Students to promote the safety and well-being of all students and community members. 

Manage and/or oversee a budget that exceeds $10 million annually, which requires extensive strategic planning and budget management resources for the designated departments, including E&G allocations, Health Fee funds, A&S allocations, Grants, and Foundation accounts.  

Serve as a member of the Division of Student Affairs Leadership Team; collaboratively help develop divisional goals, objectives, and priorities. 

Develop organizational priorities and goals for the collective of units encompassing student health and well-being, including Counseling and Psychological Services, Owls Care Health Promotion, and Student Health Services. 

Evaluate program effectiveness and strategically plan to continually improve effectiveness and efficiency.

Chair and/or serve on a variety of University Committees, e.g., Healthy Campus 2030, State University System Self Insurance Plan, Admissions Review Board, and the Workplace Threat Assessment Task Force. 

Chair and/or serve on a variety of Student Affairs committees, e.g., Student Intervention Team, Medical Advisory Committee, Student Concerns Action Committee. 

Represent the University and/or the Division of Student Affairs through university engagement, interaction with the media, and consultation with parents of FAU students and other members of the community.

Routinely interact with Vice Presidents, Vice Provosts, Deans, and Directors regarding college student mental health, public health, issues relating to the health and safety of students, student conduct, accessibility issues, and other related topics.

Minimum Qualifications:

A master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and eight years of appropriate experience required.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

A PhD from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization preferred.

Salary:

$150,000 - $170,000 per year.
