JOB BRIEF (PURPOSE)
The Public Sector Portfolio Management Group within Key Bank provides capital in the form of loans, leases, letters of credit, and other credit products, and traditional banking products and services. Our client base includes States, Municipal clients (cities, counties, school districts, transportation authorities, etc.), Public and Private Higher Education institutions. This role is an appealing opportunity for an experienced associate to expand their career by working with municipalities. Previous experience in lending to municipalities is not mandatory but is preferred. The Associate Portfolio Manager will be responsible for performing financial analysis and preparing underwriting documents to support complex lending to various municipal clients.  This role will make credit decisions and recommendations in accordance with sound credit-granting principles and in compliance with Bank Policies & Procedures. Additionally, the Portfolio Management Associate will be responsible for ongoing credit monitoring for a portfolio of municipal clients, reviewing legal documentation, and assisting product partners in cross-selling additional bank products. 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
•    Analyzing and researching municipal issuers and borrowers in a wide range of sectors (general governmental, K-12, pension, economic development, higher education, etc.)
•    Gather and analyze all relevant financial data for a client or prospect, including analyzing historical performance, accurately calculating credit metrics, identifying risks and mitigants, assessing creditworthiness, etc.
•    Prepare thorough credit underwriting documents identifying credit risks and mitigants, demographic concerns, financial trends, and other pertinent credit issues
•    Participating in the underwriting of different credit deals
•    Engaging in comprehensive client and credit research
•    Prepare detailed underwriting reports and recommendations for approval by credit officers
•    Work on various one-time projects
•    Interaction with deal team members and clients
•    Engaging in comprehensive client and credit research
•    Take part in the approval process for lending commitments, amendments, waivers, and consents, including answering questions from Credit Executives
•    Assist in compliance with all Know Your Customer (“KYC”) regulations
•    Properly maintain documentation and necessary business records
•    Monitor ongoing financial performance of municipalities in the portfolio and tracking covenant compliance
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES/SKILLS 
•    Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
•    Ability to prioritize tasks with a high sense of urgency to meet the demands of a deadline-driven environment
•    Disciplined work ethic
•    Superior attention to detail
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•    Ability to effectively manage multiple simultaneous project deadlines
•    Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
•    Exposure to finance and accounting and/or quantitative modeling
•    Experience with financial modeling and analysis preferred
•    Work effectively as an individual and as part of a team
•    Highly motivated and energetic
•    Demonstrate a strong interest in finance and the public sector
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
•    Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Portfolio Management/Credit Risk/Relationship Management; preferably within municipal finance. 
•    Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or equivalent work experience
