Assoc Director of Recreation Programs
Position Summary
The Associate Director of Recreation Programs will be responsible for overseeing the operations of Recreational Sports and Fitness Services (RSFS) activities and outdoor fields to include the planning, implementation, and evaluation to ensure a diverse range of recreational programs that promote student engagement, health, and wellness; collaborates with campus partners to enhance recreational opportunities and create a welcoming environment for all participants; develops, coordinates, and evaluates a comprehensive portfolio of recreational programs, including intramural sports, group fitness, and special events; hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates full-time staff responsible for implementation of RSFS programs; ensures program offerings meet the needs and interests of a diverse student population; manages program budgets, including revenue generation and expense control; assesses program effectiveness and implement improvements based on participant feedback and industry trends; provides oversight and support to staff developing and implementing training programs focused on leadership, customer service, and emergency response; fosters a positive and inclusive work environment that supports student and staff development; works closely with campus partners, including Student Affairs, Athletics, and Wellness Services to enhance recreational programming; engages with student organizations and community partners to increase participation and accessibility; promotes recreation programs through marketing campaigns, social media, and campus events.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing one or two years of post-bachelor degree work such as a Masters in Recreation Administration or Business Administration, Sports/Recreation Management, Kinesiology, Health & Wellness Management, Health & Physical Education, Higher Education or related field; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in administering sports programs; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications
Demonstrated experience developing and leading campus recreation and wellness/wellbeing initiatives; demonstrated experience supporting and fostering a diverse student, staff, and faculty environment; certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED.
