What is the opportunity?
To safeguard the Bank’s assets and liabilities and clients’ interests, and ensure the accuracy of financial records by continually reviewing, monitoring and improving the set of policies and procedures in place at NYB. To ensure compliance with management’s policies and procedures, external laws and regulations.
To assist in the Operational Oversight Program for Cross Border Services (Par Crossed Checks, Automated Clearing House (ACH) transfers to ensure the services are offered (and the underlying operational procedures) in Canada are in compliance with established RBC policies and regulatory standards.
To provide effective inquiry resolution and service delivery to Demand Deposit Account (“DDA”) clients of New York Branch; responsible for monitoring and controlling unpostable items, balancing US tracing items, and redirecting collection items. To reconcile USD Par Cross checks received on behalf of business clients of Canadian branches, and provide payment support as required.
What will you do?
General Ledger Oversight
Assist in the review and maintenance of the General Ledger (“GL”) and subsidiary records in line with standing circular instructions.Assist in the balancing the ACBS / eGL sub-ledgers including fees and accruals.Assist in the balancing of month end eGL report balances to RIBS GL.Perform monthly PEGA attestation.Maintain documents relating to Sarbanes Oxley (“SOX”).Review the Treasury HQ9203 (Balance Status) for accuracy and compliance with Fed requirements.Cross Border Transaction Monitoring
Review the account activities of cross border clients ensure they meet RBC policy and they are handled on a consistent and timely basis.New York Branch Services
Ensure cash letters received from IMM, Toronto is processed and balanced.Provide instructions for General Ledger entries to Tracing Suspense for Return items pending receipt of debits from various branches.Provide instructions for manual entries received for adjustments from the Federal Reserve.Provide instructions for entries based on Money Order reports received from Royal Bank Intl Centers.Balance tracing suspense and proof suspense daily, with supporting documentation for verification and recording. Maintain a log detailing the reconciliation of outstanding items.Process, via Check 21, checks received by New York Branch and drawn on other banks, and ensure that appropriate entries are processed to the GL and DDA accounts as required. Maintain a log of all checks received for deposit for AML Compliance review and audit purposes.Re-direct/return checks received for collection; perform investigations when required.Process the daily files received from the Federal Reserve Bank, advising Treasury Management and Payments of the total MB&B charged.Process MB&B returns received daily from Symcor Canada, balancing against the financial capture report received from Symcor Canada.Assist in releasing Fed Funds to NY Treasury ad RBCCM LLC.What you need to succeed?
Undergraduate degree preferably Business/Finance/Accounting
Knowledge and awareness of key regulations and laws e.g. Bank secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, “SOX”, etc
Strong analytical, problem solving, planning, organization, and communication skills
Good working knowledge of RBFG information systems and products, particularly RBC’s Cross Border Services products, Deposit, Loan and Fee processing, Cash Management Treasury Operations.
Strong knowledge of banking rules related to Federal Reserve Cash letter processing and Regulation CC.
Knowledge of RIBS
Good observation skills.

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $75,000 - $105,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
