Team Overview
The Global Compensation Team provides strategic analysis, planning, and operational execution excellent to all compensation related matters at BlackRock. The Compensation Associate role provides an excellent opportunity to learn about the firm, its businesses, and how the Global Compensation Team drives BlackRock’s pay for performance culture through close partnership with senior business leaders.
This role will help support several businesses, including Aladdin, Technology & Operations, and Corporate Functions. It will require extensive analytics and modeling, collaboration with colleagues across the firm, and strong relationships, all in service of delivering on BlackRock’s compensation philosophy.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Compensation Consulting: Deliver effective, fair, equitable compensation solutions for clients on a variety of matters (e.g., hiring, transfers, benchmarking, etc.,) through an understanding of the business, compensation best practices, an innovative mindset, and a desire to learn
Year-End Compensation: Assist in the planning and execution of the end-to-end compensation review process, including incentive pool allocation, modeling, reporting, and analytics
Partnership & Collaboration: Develop strong relationships with colleagues across HR and within the business
Market Benchmarking: Assist in the annual market data review process, including matching, analysis of results, and delivering insights to clients
Communication: Ensure clear and impactful communication and governance of the firm’s compensation plans and philosophy
Keep Up with The Market: Monitor trends and innovative practices in the compensation field; review existing and new statutory requirements governing compensation and recommend appropriate responses
General Projects: Manage or assist on broader compensation and rewards team initiatives as needed
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in math, finance, human resources, industrial psychology or related fields – or equivalent experience
At least 3 years of experience in compensation, financial analysis, management consulting, or similar role
Experience with Microsoft Excel, particularly in building analyses, models
Strong interpersonal, communication and analytical skills, including the ability to work with all levels of the organization
Experience building and managing relationships and consulting with senior business leaders
Ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment; strong sense of urgency in driving projects to completion; client focused approach
Demonstrates a focus on continuous improvement
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Advanced degree in Math, Finance, Human Resources, Industrial Psychology or related fields
Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation partly or fully achieved
Financial services or technology industry experience, ideally in a global environment
Experience with data visualization and analytical tools (e.g., Tableau, Alteryx, Business Objects, Microsoft Power BI, etc.)
