CIBC’s US Compliance Department provides timely, proactive advice and independent second line oversight to the US Wealth Management, US Capital Markets, and US Commercial Banking lines of business. US Compliance supports these lines of business by being proactive advisors, trusted specialists and value-added partners. Together with the lines of business and in line with CIBC’s Risk Appetite Statement, US Compliance works to identify, assess, manage and mitigate regulatory compliance risk to protect CIBC’s reputation and brand, while helping CIBC become a strong, innovative and relationship-oriented bank.
CIBC seeks a Compliance Advisor that will be instrumental in supporting the execution of the US Private Wealth Group (“PWG”) and CIBC Inc.’s Compliance Risk Management Program with a focus on asset and wealth management regulations. In this role the PWG Compliance Advisor (“PWG CA”) will be responsible for providing compliance support and oversight to the SEC-registered investment advisor (“RIA”) and trust companies contained within CIBC’s US Private Wealth Group. The PWG CA will help ensure that policies and procedures are maintained at a level commensurate with PWG’s and CIBC’s risk appetite.
How You’ll Succeed
To support the implementation and maintenance of PWG’s Compliance program, the PWG CA will be accountable for:
Implementing the PWG Compliance Program which supports a large, diversified, RIA and two trust companies.Developing portfolio monitoring and trade surveillance reports to help ensure the referenced compliance program meets its objective. Monitoring trading activity against investment restrictions and regulatory requirements.Maintaining and enhancing the PWG Compliance Program’s policies and procedures.Implementing applicable regulatory changes across various lines of business and operational areas.Evaluating business procedures and controls to identify compliance risks.Providing guidance on regulatory interpretations of applicable asset and wealth management regulations and advise on actions to ensure compliance.Assist with the preparation of regulatory filings.Review employee communications to help ensure compliance with associated guidelines.Review marketing materials for regulatory compliance as needed.Perform Code of Ethics related monitoring as needed.Who You Are
To be held accountable for the above referenced responsibilities and perform his or her role successfully, the PWG CA should have:
A college degree in a business discipline (e.g. Finance, Economics, etc.).3 to 5 years of experience in a compliance position at a registered RIA, broker dealer or bank.A strong understanding of the Investment Advisors Act of 1940, the Investment Company Act of 1940 and applicable FINRA Conduct Rules.A working knowledge of OCC and other banking related regulations pertaining to trust companies. Broad experience with compliance systems to facilitate the development and maintenance of compliance reports.The ability to prioritize his or her responsibilities in a fast moving, dynamic environment.An entrepreneurial inclination and the ability to work alone as well as collaborate with a team.Strong interpersonal skills in order to maintain sound working relationships with support partners and front office personnel.Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and follow-up on key issues in a timely manner.Strong writing, analytical and problem-solving skills.CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
