What You’ll Be Doing

 

Cadmus seeks an Associate to join the Market Research & Customer Insights team in the Energy Division. The Associate will be expected to design, manage, and conduct primary research on behalf of Cadmus’ energy clients. The ideal candidate will bring substantial experience designing qualitative research projects, such as cross-utility/sector or statewide efforts that examine customer experience, awareness, motivations, and preferences. You will be responsible for selecting appropriate research methodologies, developing samples, including designing to statistical confidence and precision levels, and applying weighting and quotas for phone, online or mail survey efforts. You will bring the ability to scope projects and provide technical expertise on qualitative research design; manage a wide range of market research activities such as interviews, surveys, secondary research, and focus groups;  and analyze a wide range of qualitative and quantitative data to draw conclusions and develop actionable recommendations.

 

The Associate should have professional experience working with Qualtrics (Cadmus’ online survey platform) in the field of energy efficiency, demand response, or energy justice topics and qualitative analysis tools such as DeDoose or NVivo. Candidates should also have exceptional critical thinking skills, be highly motivated to perform and learn, be able to work collaboratively and independently as part of a matrixed team, manage assigned tasks and projects from start to finish with minimal input from supervisors, and have exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities Write complete, client-ready and high-quality research approaches for large-scale (e.g. statewide) survey efforts and other qualitative researchManage survey research projects including timelines, budget, scope, team and client communicationDesign high-quality data collection tools including interview guides and survey instruments to be programmed and administered through QualtricsSelect and apply appropriate analytic methods and solutions to address client questionsExecute detailed quality assurance and control tasks for junior Qualtrics programmers, including sharing best practices for testing survey programmingReview survey, interview, and utility program data to identify trends, summarize key findings, and discern relationships between program activities and program resultsDocument results for clients through PowerPoint presentations, memos, and reportsCommunicate professionally through telephone and email with out-of-state colleagues and clients, in varying time zonesTrain junior staff on research best practicesLead internal project teams and act as the day-to-day interface between clients and the team Qualifications At least 8 years of experience conducting social science research, including interviews, surveys, focus groups, and/or literature reviewsAt least five years of experience managing or leading market research projects using Qualtrics (or other survey programming software)At least five years of experience designing research studies, including sampling and statistical analysis (experience with data justice or data equity a plus)Experience with data collection mixed methodsUndergraduate or graduate degree in business, statistics, the social sciences, environmental studies, or a related fieldStrategic thinker with strong staff and client management skillsDemonstrated experience using qualitative coding programs such as DeDoos and NVivoAdvanced Qualtrics skills, including survey customization via logic and flow, embedded data, quota managementStrong critical thinking, data examination, and analytical skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProficient in MS Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and ExcelProficiency managing data sets and developing sample lists using data analysis software (e.g., SAS, SPSS, R, Python, ArcGIS, etc.)Some domestic travel may be required (less than 10%)

 Preferred:

Prior consulting experience leading small teams on research projectsExperience with choice-based survey design and managementExperience in the energy sector, specifically electric and gas utilitiesBusiness development (including proposal management and response) experienceExperience with ArcGIS, PowerBI and/or conducting geospatial analysis or building dashboards

Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States as a U.S Permanent Resident or U.S. Citizen.

The minimum starting salary for this position is $85,000. The actual salary may be higher and will be determined by several factors, including relevant work experience, education, skills, and market competitiveness.
