Job Overview

The Associate, Enterprise Communications plays a vital role in developing and executing strategic communication plans to engage and inform internal audiences. They ensure consistent messaging, that reflects Macy’s brand attributes and strategic vision, by communicating key corporate initiatives across various departments and platforms. Responsibilities include creating communication materials, evaluating effectiveness using metrics, managing town halls and corporate events, and maintaining internal brand standards. Additionally, they perform other duties as assigned. This position is hybrid, based in New York City. 

 

What You Will Do

Develop strategic messaging and communication plans to effectively inform and engage internal audiences. Communicate initiatives across the enterprise regarding key corporate functions, such as Merchandising, Customer + Digital, Marketing, and other assigned areas. Create various communication materials, including email communications, talking points, video scripts, presentations, and other supporting documents. Serve as a key writer/contributor for our storytelling platforms including our intranet, weekly newsletter, and corporate social media channels.  Manage colleague meetings and corporate events in collaboration with functional leaders. Evaluate the effectiveness of current communications using metrics and adjust strategies accordingly. Improve storytelling and amplification methods to reflect Macy’s, Inc. brand attributes and strategic vision. Ensure consistency in internal brand standards across all communication materials. Support the Enterprise Communications budget by processing invoices, creating purchase orders, tracking expenses, and collaborating with the Finance team.

 

 

Skills You Will Need

Corporate Communications: Demonstrated proficiency in corporate communications, particularly in internal communications, change management, and organizational communications.

Exceptional Writing Skills: Strong ability to write and edit communications that effectively convey the company's goals, objectives, and initiatives. Writing samples or a writing test may be required.

Relationship Building: Capacity to build relationships and establish credibility across various functions and at all organizational levels. Practices open and continuous communication, valuing transparency and presenting information clearly and concisely.

Adaptability: Flexible approach to work, capable of managing multiple projects and priorities in a high-pressure environment.

Project Management: Ability to manage projects from inception to completion, applying resourcefulness and a proactive attitude.

Self-Driven: Motivated to work independently, effectively planning and executing strategies to achieve set priorities. Thrives in a fast-paced, goal-oriented, and time-sensitive environment.

Proficiency in MS Office: Strong proficiency in MS Office programs is essential for this role.

Experience with Creative and CRM Tools: Familiarity with online creative tools such as Canva, Poppulo, Photoshop, and CRM-type tools is valuable.

Candidates with a bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, organizational communications, or journalism or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. 5+ years of Communications experience. Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision. Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
