Job Description
Brookfield is recruiting for an Associate, Investments in the Renewable Power & Transition group, to be based out of New York. This role represents an exciting opportunity to join a growing and dynamic global team. This professional will primarily support asset management of Brookfield’s renewable power and transition assets, as well as the assessment and execution of investment opportunities in clean energy and transition infrastructure. This includes investments for the Brookfield Global Transition Funds (“BGTF”), which are Brookfield’s primary platform for investing in and facilitating the energy transition.
This role represents an opportunity to play a key role in a growing team with a focus on analysis, problem solving and project management, providing immersive experience within key areas of investments and management, including but not limited to evaluating and executing investments, financial management, people management and general management practices.
Major Responsibilities
Support the active oversight of portfolio companies within the Asset Management Team, ensuring that operating and financial performance is maximized, follow-on capital is deployed into attractive opportunities, and targeted investment returns are achieved;
Evaluate and assist in executing follow-on investment opportunities including M&A, project development, and strategic opportunities related to BGTF investments and portfolio companies;
Assist in evaluating and executing investment opportunities in clean energy, infrastructure and industrial sectors, including building financial models, synthesizing company/industry research, and preparing presentation materials to guide evaluation of transactions;
Develop ideas for potential transactions and deal structures, perform industry research and evaluate new market segments and opportunities;
Formulate business plans for BGTF investments and coordinate due diligence workstreams;
Present analyses to internal and external executives;
Onboard new investments including development and execution of initial business plans and value creation activities post-acquisition;
Assess investment opportunities’ decarbonization impact consistent with BGTF’s quantitative impact measurement and management approach;
Contribute to a flexible, dynamic and team-oriented culture;
Conduct special projects, as required.
Profile
A professional, positive attitude and capable of contributing to a dynamic and team-oriented culture, the individual is financially astute, detail-oriented and demonstrates good business judgment. Self-motivated with a proven ability to perform in complex situations, cope with multiple and changing priorities and meet deadlines. Direct and insightful in approach, s/he possesses the interpersonal skills to quickly gain the respect and support from the Asset Management team and the portfolio company personnel with which they will interact on a daily basis.
2-4 years of experience in Investment Banking, Principal Investing, or other relevant areas. Experience in renewable power and/or energy transition M&A and capital markets is a plus, but not a requirement;
Self-motivated with a proven ability to perform in a fast-paced environment, cope with changing priorities and meet deadlines;
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (oral and written), and able to interact across all levels of the organization;
Outstanding financial modeling skills in support of underwriting investments, bolt-ons, and growth initiatives / development projects within portfolio companies;
High level of proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint;
Experience in conducting due diligence;
Keen interest in investing and business management;
Strong analytical skills and creative problem-solving ability;
Ability to proactively research investment opportunities;
Ability to multi-task and work in a very fast-paced and team-oriented environment;
Strong written and verbal communication skills;
Experience with and understanding of corporate capital structures;
Strong attention to detail.

Salary Range: $150,000 - $200,000
Our compensation structure is comprised of a base salary and a short-term incentive program (cash bonus). Cash compensation tends to vary based on geography to account for local market conditions and is set to be market competitive. Compensation decisions are based on a number of factors including relative experience, overall years of experience, industry experience, education and designations.
