Royal Caribbean Group has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Associate, Senior Program reporting to the Senior Manager, Strategic Planning & Programs Management.
Position Summary
The function of the Sr Program Associate is to assist and support to the program management team with the management of the New Generation program of Newbuilds, special projects, or revitalization and refurbishment of vessels. The Sr. Program Associate consults with internal clients in various departments (shore side and shipboard) to gather, analyze, and report data for recommended courses of action. Projects assigned are typically top priority, high profile, and multi-departmental initiatives for the organization and thus require continuous communication and interaction in a fast-paced environment with the Sr. Program Manager. The Sr Program Associate is responsible for long term planning & managing all types of cabin blocking, new cabin addition related activities, release of cabins back to revenue management, as it pertains to the Newbuild Programs for the Royal brand. This includes all new ships deliveries, and any other brand projects that may be assigned to the Hotel Ops Newbuild Program department. This position is also responsible for the standardization of single entitled crew berthing and cabin allocation via the “Crew Berthing” tool; assuming ownership and responsibility of the tool’s efficiency, integrity of the data, and regularly communicating with the end users (shipboard HR team) to ensure a cohesive process is maintained. This function is responsible to plan for any cabin needs to be blocked 18 months out, while managing closely inventory on a weekly basis, collaborate with all project teams on needs based on projects specifics. The Supervisor is responsible to maximize revenue opportunities and minimize revenue loss for the Royal brand.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Project management coordination to support the development, tracking/monitoring and reporting of several small to medium size special projects from inception to completion, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery of project outputs. Consults with design and brand teams to ensure executive direction and feedback are effectively implemented into the project. Utilizes project management tools and techniques to develop and maintain project scope. Manages reporting of project status for executive review. Consults with client to ascertain and define need or problem to obtain data required for solution. Conducts analysis & recommends solutions, based on gathered insight, to continuously improve methods and procedures in ways-of-working and utilizing best practices. Performs vendor consultations/assessments to monitor progress and ascertain and define problems and obtain solutions. Communicates effectively with outside vendors/contractors to ensure contracted deliverables are met in a timely fashion. Facilitates risk reviews and ensures adherence to the risk-centric ways of working for Miami-based workstreams. Aligns risk status and provides feedback on risk criticality as it relates to the entire project scope. Develops processing methods and practices for communicating project status to extended teams and executive management. Supports project teams in collection of quantitative/qualitative statistics, performs basic numerical analysis (financial, statistical). Drives the development of cabin and conference room blocking for Royal NB programs based on project complexities; generates reports, correspondences, spreadsheets & presentations regarding the status and impact on projects Manages the revenue cabin utilization for all Royal NB Programs and Covid 19 related protocols while protecting our brands revenue; tracks the needs and proactively returns revenue cabins to Revenue Managements inventory Establishes inventory management strategies to help identify revenue opportunities; proactively identifies efficiencies and provides recommendations Liaises with Design and Revenue Management to align the new cabin numbers with the associated cabin attributes and determines/provides direction on their live revenue date Responsible for maintaining status of busied staterooms in accordance with established policies and processes Oversees the crew cabin inventory of the entire Royal fleet (~250,800 cabins as of 2024), liaises with the HR shipboard team on any cabin attribute discrepancies, and protects the integrity of the data to ensure we do not dilute our total crew berths on board Manages the shipboard Crew-Berthing tool with specific focus on single entitled cabin allocation to ensure alignment across each ship class, while maintaining a standardized process across the fleet and proposing solutions in a complex environment; requires knowledge of the berthing entitlements and historical berthing agreements by class of ship Ensures our new cabins, and ECC cabins (including their attributes) are accurately recorded and reflected on our Cabin Attributes, Cabin Blocking, and Supply & Demand reports Provide subject matter expertise and direction to the Hotel Operations, and Newbuild teams in the daily tasks performed in the areas of, including but not limited to, berthing, deployment, staterooms changes, policies and processes for ECCR, revenue cabin blocking, and crew berthing/cabin allocation
Education & Experience
B.S. degree with a concentration in Business Administration, Management Information Systems, or a closely related discipline (Management Science, Industrial Engineering). Experience: 2-5 years within a large corporation or consulting firm with 1-3 years in an office administration environment is required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Knowledge and Skills
Solid written and verbal communication skills a must. Clear and precise communication at all levels of the organization essential. Excellent interpersonal skills, strength in communicating in a multicultural environment with all levels of employees and management. Ability to apply analytical, financial, conceptual and strategic thinking to objectives, proposals and performance. Excellent administrative, organizational and presentation skills. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Ability to coherently define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and find pragmatic solutions to problems. Knowledge of or some experience with process improvement methods & techniques. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to read, analyze and interpret contracts, financial reports, legal documents, and government regulations. Ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, co-workers, customers, vendors, shoreside and shipboard employees. Software: Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project required. Familiarity with email, internet applications and AutoCAD system essential. Internal Candidates: Knowledge of CAR process: budget, approval, reconciliation, and reporting, AMOS, Niku, Lotus Notes Database, SQM filing system, JDE, and Essbase.
