JOB PURPOSE
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Trading floor liaison with internal and external transaction control and approval functions
• Providing transaction expertise for structured notes and other products across a number of underlying markets
• Working closely with a number of internal partners, including Structuring, Sales, Trading, Legal, Compliance, Treasury and Taxation Division on new product development initiatives
• Ensuring transactions and products are structured to achieve legal, regulatory, tax and operational objectives for CIBC and its clients
•
• Advising on capital markets and structured notes procedure and products offered by the bank in UK and Europe, including public offerings
• Drafting relevant documentation for the above and liaising with stakeholders
• Liaising with the desk to ensure the Structured Notes programme is relevant and workable for all trading requirements at the time
• When required, providing execution management support for structured notes trades from inception through to settlement
• Preparing documentation for occasional Calls and Corporate Actions
• Leading initiatives with various internal and external stakeholders to achieve cost reductions and operational efficiencies
• Leading the integration and maintenance of ongoing legal document automation initiatives
• Assisting the Sales team in building new strategic partnerships with distribution partners
• Working effectively within CIBC's corporate governance practices and policies (e.g. Risk Management, Finance, Human Resources, Legal and Compliance) to ensure all potential risks are appropriately addressed and that CIBC legal/reputation issues and shareholder objectives are covered, and to promote the firm’s vision, mission and values
• Responsible for the integration and maintenance of the ongoing automatic documentation project.

JOB DIMENSIONS
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• Lawyer with 1 to 3 years’ experience with a large transaction-oriented UK law firm or an in-house role within an investment bank
• Emphasis on securities law and/or corporate finance
• Knowledge of structured products essential
• Experience with debt/structured notes programmes essential
• Knowledge of derivatives markets would be considered an asset
• Proven ability to pay close attention to detail
• Excellent organisational, oral and written communication skills
• Excellent analytical and conceptual skills
• Working knowledge of PC applications (Excel, Word, Power Point)
• Ability to thrive in dynamic and ever-changing market environment
• Results driven
