Caterpillar Financial currently has an opportunity for an Accountant with 3-5 years of experience to join the Finance team, located in Tullamarine. **Job Description;** We are looking for someone with a good broad skill base that can quickly adapt to ad hoc requests in addition to daily, weekly and monthly duties. You will be responsible for performing moderately complex and varied accounting activities with limited supervision. Duties may include; completing reconciliations, clearing and communicating posting errors to the appropriate parties; conducting and/or assisting in the documentation of accounting projects; preparing or assisting in the preparation of accounting reports and assisting in year-end activities to help prepare statutory accounts. This role will offer you a wide variety of responsibilities in a friendly and supportive environment. **Further duties may include;** + Performs accounting duties of a moderate complex and varied nature under minimal supervision. + Preparation of journal entries for month-end processing. + Assist in the preparation of monthly reporting packages. + Performs daily and monthly reconciliations including assigned bank accounts to the General Ledger. + Back up for Accounts receivable and Accounts payable duties. + Completing various government surveys + Assist in preparation of data and reports for yearly Statutory accounts. + Applies knowledge of advanced accounting methods and procedures to projects and day-to-day activities. + Understands and assists with the established continuous improvement objectives for the department (LEAN) **Key Skills required;** + **Accuracy and Attention to Detail** : Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision. + **Analytical Thinking:** Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organisational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems. + **Effective Communications:** Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviours. + **Managing Multiple Priorities:** Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritising and time allocation. + **Problem Solving:** Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognising, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations. + **Accounting:** Knowledge of accounting methods, processes, and tools; ability to maintain and prepare financial statements and reports using accounting methods and processes. + **Financial Record Keeping:** Knowledge of financial record keeping processes, methods, and tools; ability to maintain accurate and thorough records of financial transactions. **To be successful in this role you will need to;** + Demonstrated ability to seek out relevant information. + Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS is preferable. + Ability to create and maintain Excel spreadsheets and Word documents. + Data manipulation abilities in Excel. + Must show initiative, leadership, accountability and the ability to communicate effectively within cross functional departmental teams. + Must be a good team player and ability to work in a team environment **Qualifications:** + Accounting degree with 3-5 years relevant work experience + Studying towards CA or CPA qualification, helpful but not required. **Posting Dates:** January 29, 2025 - February 6, 2025 Caterpillar is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EEO).
