Professional Sports Job SummaryThe Georgia Tech Athletic Association (GTAA) is an independent 501(c)3 non-profit organization that manages Georgia Tech's intercollegiate sports programs. The Associate Athletics Director - Controller reports directly to the Executive Associate Athletics Director/Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for the maintenance of GTAA finance records and reporting. Administer, in conjunction with senior leadership, the Athletic Association budgets. Responsible for accounting associated with bonds, endowments, and all other financial initiatives implemented by GTAA and AT fund. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing performance, providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.This position will interact on a regular basis with: GTAA leadership, Georgia Tech (GT) financial leadership, and other staff members. This position typically will advise and counsel: GTAA leadership. This position will supervise: financial support staff.
Responsibilities
Job Duty 1 - Oversee the proper recording and reporting of financial transactions.
Job Duty 2 - Coordinate the annual financial audit, National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Agreed-Upon Procedures, and annual tax compliance process with an external audit firm.
Job Duty 3 - Responsible for all required external reporting to the NCAA and the University System of Georgia.
Job Duty 4 - Manage the annual fiscal performance of the Athletic Association.
Job Duty 5 - Advise senior leadership regarding GTAA financial performance and issues.
Job Duty 6 - Manage staff within the accounting function and oversee business operations.
Job Duty 7 - Perform other related duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Experience
Seven to ten years of job-related experience; strong background and knowledge in accounting principles.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with 501(C)3 accounting principles.
Accounting and/or financial reporting experience with a 501(C)3 organization
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's Degree
