The Position

This Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and motivated bench scientist to join our team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in advancing our understanding of the pathological mechanisms underlying metabolic diseases, particularly obesity. This position involves applying scientific knowledge and expertise to develop functional assays related to metabolic diseases, supporting the progression of drug discovery projects.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

Develop and optimize in vitro/ex vivo cell-based assays to evaluate potential therapeutic interventions.Demonstrate expertise in increasingly complex techniques including but not limited to cell culture optimization, execution of phenotypic and mechanistic assays, molecular biology (RNA isolation and analysis, western blot), etc.Analyse and interpret experimental data to elucidate disease pathways and therapeutic responses.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support drug discovery and development projects focused on metabolic diseases.Present findings to internal teams, stakeholders, and governance in a balanced, clear, and precise manner.Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records in alignment with data integrity expectations and ensure compliance with all relevant protocols and safety guidelines.Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, inclusion, and continuous learning within the project team and across the organization.Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory requirements and ethical guidelines in all research activities

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

MS/BS in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or a related field with a minimum of 2 years (MS) or 5 years (BS) of industrial experience.Experience in drug discovery research, ability to design, execute and interpret complex experimental studies across a wide range of laboratory techniques, including cell culture (isolation, culture and analysis of primary human/animal cells), optimization and execution of cell-based assays (phenotypic and mechanistic), and molecular biology (e.g., RNA isolation and analysis).Expertise in the isolation, culture, and analysis of primary human or animal cells, including beta cells, adipocytes, and skeletal muscle cells, is highly desirable.Experience with GPCR cell-based assays, such as cAMP production assays, is also highly desirable.Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present scientific findings to multidisciplinary internal and external stakeholders in a balanced, clear, and precise manner.Proven ability to prioritize multiple projects to meet timelines while maintaining attention to detail and high-performance standards.
