Job Summary
 

Under the supervision of the Logan Center Operations Coordinator and Box Office and Ticketing Software Manager at Court Theatre, the Court Theatre and UChicago Arts Associate Box Office Manager assists customers with Box Office transactions. They provide quality customer service in a timely manner over the telephone and in person, as well as provide support for online ticket sales using the AudienceView Unlimited ticketing software. They handle daily account balancing and deposits and lead a team of student box office assistants. The Associate Box Office Manager will split their time and responsibilities between the Box Offices of Court Theatre, the Logan Center for the Arts, and other locations on the University of Chicago Hyde Park campus depending on event scheduling and staffing needs. Weekend and evening hours required.

Please note this we are in the process of merging the UChicago Arts and Court Theatre Box Office teams. In Winter 2025 this position will transition from the Logan Center to Court Theatre.

Responsibilities

Works with Box Office team and Marketing Director to frame how Box Office interfaces with patron services and front-of-house during events.Independently manages box office operations at events including managing student box office employees, including all UChicago Arts events requiring Box Office Managerial presence. Responsible for the smooth operation of night-of-show ticketing, which includes oversight of off-site ticketing services and on-site ticket agents/will-call. Hires, trains, and supervises Box Office and front of house student staff. Acts as a representative of the Box Office with the public both in person and on the phone; handles customer complaints and issues as it relates to box office events and front of house.Participates in and assists with sales promotions and initiatives. Makes suggestions where appropriate in relation to ticket sales and/or audience segmentation.Assists Box Office and Ticketing Software Manager with database configuration and maintenance tasks, with primary responsibility for UChicago Arts events.Assists with tickets.uchicago.edu website administration and updates, including tracking website analytics relevant to Box Office sales activities.Provides regular sales reports on ticketed events, as requested. Collects and analyzes box office usage data, ticketing and sales data, and customer-relationship data for various purposes including evaluating purchasing trends, patron demographics, fundraising efforts, and the effectiveness of marketing campaigns. Working with the Finance team, manages cash and check deposits, credit card deposits, internal account transfers, reconciliation of web sales, and payment to event producers for Logan Center events.Provides customers with expedient responses to requests and problems, using a comprehensive knowledge of Court Theatre and UChicago Arts’ performances (including UChicago Presents and the Logan Center), policies, and services.Presents a positive and welcoming first impression to customers.Proactively handles all Box Office duties that may arise.Gains knowledge of other Front of House job duties, including House Management and Bartender, and may be asked to cover if necessary.Has a moderate/high level of authority in selling products and services. Works with marketing and other units to target growth areas and generate leads.Plays a key role in the execution of sales and marketing programs.Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications
 

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
