Summary

We are seeking applicants for the Associate Center Director (ACD) of Shared Resources Management at Moffitt Cancer Center (MCC), a stand-alone, NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center. This senior leadership position has primary oversight of Shared Resources. This leader has significant authority and responsibility over the management of shared resources and research mission of MCC, which has nationally recognized research programs in Basic, Clinical, Population, Quantitative, and Translational Sciences. The ACD will also work in partnership with other ACDs and the Cancer Center Director to plan Shared Resources for our expanding campus and research footprint. The ACD serves as an institutional leader to advance MCC’s singular mission to contribute to the prevention and cure of cancer.

 

Position Highlights include the following:

Providing leadership and oversight of the shared resources to support our Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG). Provide leadership for strategic investment in new technology. Provide leadership and evaluate current and developing shared resources. Provide leadership to develop a business strategy and management plan for developing cores.

 

The ideal candidate will have:

A national/international reputation in cancer-related research with an established track record of peer-reviewed extramural research funding. Strategic and innovative thinking to identify new technologies and to anticipate research directions and opportunities. Exceptional leadership and mentorship skills to advance careers of faculty, trainees, and staff.

 

Primary responsibilities for the leadership role will include:

Administrative Leadership: Oversees Core Leadership and works with the Administration in a productive, collaborative research environment. Scientific Leadership: Oversees Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) Shared Resources in collaboration with the ACD of Research Administration; Partners with other ACDs and scientific leaders to advance transdisciplinary research and investments in key technologies; Provides leadership and oversight of Shared Resources (Cores); Contributes to CCSG competing and non-competing applications; and Mentors Core Directors, faculty, trainees, and staff. Center-wide Leadership: Chairs the Core Leadership Committee (CLC); Serves as member of the Research Executive Committee, the Research Institute Steering Committee, the Scientific Leadership Committee, and the Leadership Council; Ensures Cores develop and sustain robust shared initiatives with the Research Education & Training; and Research Diversity & Workforce Development. Maintains Top Tier Research Programs: Maintains active extramurally funded research programs; Publishes original reports in high impact peer-reviewed journals; Provides service to professional societies; and Contributes to teaching and mentoring of faculty, staff, fellows, and graduate students.

 

Credentials and qualifications for eligible candidates include:

PhD, MD, or other relevant doctoral degree in a cancer related field. Mid-Associate to Senior Member/Professor who is an established, peer-review funded cancer researcher. 5+ years of leadership experience in a Cancer Center and/or University or Research Institute. Commitment to building highly collaborative research teams, culture, and environment.
