WSP is currently initiating a search for an **Associate Civil/Environmental Engineer** for our _Houston, TX_ office. The following locations will also be considered: _Dallas, Austin, TX Cincinnati, Cleveland, OH and Indianapolis, IN_ office.

Provides support to technical staff, engineers, and project managers for remediation, permitting, improvement, and construction of infrastructure projects and systems in the public and private sectors.
+ Support development of site and permitting plans for various projects within the energy sector including electrical transmission, solar and onshore wind projects.
+ Support development of civil, erosion and sediment control, drainage/stormwater and utility designs.
+ Support development of permit application documents, engineering design plans, specifications, reports and cost estimates. This position requires field visit to local sites and the potential for a small amount of overnight travel.
+ Coordinate with internal clients and governmental agencies to fulfill the needs of the project and acquire all necessary permits or approvals.
Your Impact
+ With minimal supervision, assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, subsurface utility information, maps, geotechnical data, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction.
+ Perform basic professional civil engineering work relating to conducting research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, resources, building, infrastructure, and transportation channels to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.
+ Assist with the development of technologies, monitoring devices, modeling techniques, design requirements, and operating strategies to account for the safety and functionality of end-users, transportation vehicles/systems, and incorporate future-ready solutions with civil engineering design standards.
+ AutoCAD Civil 3D experience and plan development is expected with this role Assist with verifying the characteristics of a site and providing technical assistance on various engineering, design, and construction issues.
+ Support writing technical reports summarizing research with findings and conclusions, generating complete, accurate, and concise documentation using sketches, calculations, electronic systems, spreadsheets, and software.
+ Assist technical staff and project managers with risk identification and assessment, offering input and analysis with design concepts, construction, mitigation and improvement activities, and remediation projects.
+ Working towards being a licensed Professional Engineer.
+ This position may require fieldwork, sometimes in rugged terrain.
+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
+ This position has the potential for a small amount of traveling.
+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Who You Are
**Required Qualifications**
+ B.S. in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited university.
+ Minimum 1+ years of experience.
+ The selected candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.
+ Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
+ This role is subject to a client-mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of this policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.
+ Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D/LDD and familiarity with grading and earthwork concepts.
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
+ Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
+ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
+ Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
+ Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Engineer in Training Certification.
+ Prior design experience.
+ MS in Civil or Environmental Engineering
