Associate Collegiate Professor

The Department of Economics at Virginia Tech is seeking to hire an Associate Professor in the university's collegiate faculty program. Collegiate faculty members have primary duties in curriculum development and instruction, including undergraduate teaching, and related scholarly activity. The collegiate faculty position at the Associate Professor level is a full-time position with a five-year appointment term and the appointments are renewable, with reappointment and/or promotion within the collegiate faculty ranks for qualified individuals. Collegiate faculty are expected to have an active scholarly agenda appropriate with their teaching responsibilities. Salary and teaching assignments are commensurate with qualifications and experience.

A Ph.D. in economics is required. For the current position, the department seeks someone with experience teaching courses in microeconomic theory or political economy or development economics related courses. A successful candidate must have significant experience and a proven record of teaching. Candidates are expected to play a key role in the growth and expansion of the department’s Master’s program. A completed application must include a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, teaching philosophy, evidence of effective teaching, and a research statement.
