Department Summary:
MITRE's Air & Space Forces Center (A&SFC) works to deliver technical capabilities that meet Air Force and Space Force mission objectives, including critical needs in space warfighting, air operations, nuclear enterprise, cyber operations, integrated all-domain effects, and joint lethality in contested environments. The A&SFC supports critical Air Force organizations from headquarters and secretariat Air Force offices through the acquisition centers, major commands, and operational units. Additionally, we partner with and support the United States Space Force to protect and defend current space assets, build more resilient and defendable architectures, and develop offensive capabilities to challenge adversary space capabilities. A&SFC is seeking to hire highly motivated recent undergraduate and graduate entry-level Communications Engineers to help solve these challenges.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The selected individuals will be responsible for developing, applying, prototyping, and testing state of-the-art digital communications technologies related to:
Communication systemsGround and Airborne Satellite communications terminalsBeyond Line of Sight (BLOS) communications terminals in HF and VLF frequenciesCollaborative, risk taking, and innovative Communication Engineers to help solve some of the nation’s toughest challenges and make the world a safer place.The selected individuals will have the opportunity to:
Generate, decompose, and review system requirements.Model system requirements, behaviors and interfaces through Digital Engineering processes and tools.Support communications systems development, analysis, and testing.Develop and evaluate system designs and architectures.Work in collaboration with other engineers and technicians in a team environment with the development and execution of test plans and procedures in support of existing and developmental communication systems.Analyze and resolve integrated communications hardware and software problems.Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Systems Engineering, or similar fieldCandidate must be able to obtain and maintain a minimum of a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance.An interest in wireless communications, RF/analog hardware, antenna design, digital signal processing (DSP), networking or other related technical disciplines.Experience using laboratory instrumentation (e.g. spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, signal & waveform generators) in an academic or commercial environment.Experience with software development methods and object-oriented programming, including experience in a modern programming language (C/C++, Python, Java, JavaScript)Understanding of networks and fundamental layer 3 and 4 protocols (e.g., IP, TCP, UDP, etc.)Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills.Interested in solving problems across multiple engineering disciplines to provide solutions to complex problems.Preferred Qualifications:
