Job Description
Overview:
As an Associate Construction Manager, you will play a key role in building exceptional homes and leading a high-performing construction team. Your focus will be on delivering homes on schedule and within budget while ensuring a smooth, high-quality experience for homeowners. You’ll oversee construction operations, guide field teams, and foster strong relationships with trade partners to drive excellence at every stage of the process.
In this role, you’ll develop and maintain efficient systems for planning, tracking, and improving key construction metrics. Through thoughtful reporting, quality assurance, and team development, you will help shape a culture of continuous improvement. You will also be responsible for managing budgets and schedules, proactively addressing variances, and ensuring policies and procedures are clearly defined and followed.
Beyond operations, you will serve as a mentor and technical resource for field teams, providing leadership, training, and problem-solving support. By fostering accountability and collaboration, you’ll help create an environment where both teams and trade partners can thrive, ultimately delivering a superior home building experience.
Key Deliverables:
Lead and ensure Brookfield’s Safety Program policies and quality control standards to ensure a safe, high-performing, and customer-focused homebuilding process.
Conduct spot checks and monitor construction quality to ensure homes meet warranty expectations, building codes, and long-term performance goals.
Stay current on local and provincial regulations, building codes, and best practices, implementing improvements for efficiency and quality.
Collaborate with senior leadership to identify and resolve process gaps, technical challenges, and design improvements.
Monitor customer feedback and implement improvements to enhance satisfaction and reduce deficiencies at turnover.
Manage construction budgets, control costs, approve expenditures, and ensure projects stay on budget while maintaining quality.
Develop and oversee construction schedules, investigating delays and cost overruns while sharing best practices to improve efficiency.
Hold field teams and vendors accountable for performance, leading discussions to drive quality and productivity.
Research and implement innovative construction methods, technical solutions, and cost-saving measures to enhance efficiency and product performance.
Plan, procure, and allocate necessary equipment, materials, and personnel to support seamless construction operations.
Participate in trade evaluation and selection to ensure strong vendor partnerships and high-quality work.
Oversee financial reporting, prepare key department metrics, and contribute to special projects and process improvements.
Build and lead a high-performing team by fostering a positive work environment, providing mentorship, and identifying future leaders.
Conduct performance reviews, set clear goals, and provide professional development opportunities for team members.
Develop strong relationships with vendors, regulators, and customers, ensuring smooth operations and continuous improvement.
Manage customer escalations and integrate feedback to refine construction processes and customer experience.
Stay engaged with industry developments by participating in forums and association committees (e.g., BILD, CHBA).
What You Bring:
7- 10 years in the construction or residential industry.
A combination of education and experience in construction related activities that involve personnel, project and budget management.
A highly organized team player, strong and effective working relationships at all levels of the organization
Possess proven verbal and written communication skills
Must possess working knowledge of municipal by-laws and design guidelines; be able to read technical drawings including, but not limited to, building, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical codes, working drawings, engineering documents, and grading plans, with experience in conceptual design
