Associate Corporate Counsel, Regulatory, (Japan Legal)
Amazon Japan's Legal Department is looking for a talented bilingual lawyer with approximately 2-5 years’ PQE to fill the position of Associate Corporate Counsel, Regulatory Matters.

The successful candidate will primarily manage legal issues, including legal analysis, reporting and communications, relating to the Japan Act on Improving Transparency and Fairness of Digital Platforms (Transparency Act) across all of Amazon Japan’s businesses. The attorney will advise senior business leaders on all matters relating to the Transparency Act; provide day-to-day counseling on the Transparency Act, including issues that arise in connection with business initiatives; work with Outside Counsel; and provide legal review of public statements and compliance with the Transparency Act. The successful candidate will also regularly meet with the Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry and other external stakeholders. The successful candidate will also work on other regulatory matters as necessary.

This role will be expected to coordinate with other Amazon legal and public policy team members in and outside Japan and at various levels on strategies and other matters related to the Transparency Act.

This role reports to a senior, long-tenured lawyer, Director and Associate General Counsel, Kensuke Imagi, and will work closely with Kensuke’s broader litigation and regulatory lawyers and legal professionals.

The position will be based in Amazon Japan’s Meguro headquarters, together with the Amazon Japan legal team.
Amazon Japan is a flexible workplace (three times a week in-office & work twice from home). Compensation is based on experience and includes equity compensation.
