The Richmond Campus of Bryant & Stratton College is accepting applications for an Associate Dean of Nursing.
Essential Position Responsibilities
Recruit, train, develop, and evaluate instructors under the direction of the Dean of Nursing. Schedule faculty leveraging iFit data per policy 035. Adhere to, and consistently track faculty credentialing per policy 035, including currency of licensures and certifications. Coach and develop faculty to improve student learning and success rates. Assure appropriate course-level rigor in class instruction and assessment methodologies consistent with the College’s Rigor Standards Framework through the development, integration, and delivery of course content planning documents, including but not limited to, supplemental syllabi, lesson plans, and assessments.Evaluate faculty through formal and informal measures, including course audits each session, monitoring of weekly discussion report, formal classroom evaluations performed annually & host development discussions with faculty.
Perform curriculum monitoring for consistent improvement and adherence to the College tenants and academic quality standards. Integrate and include instruction and assessment of each of the College’s lifelong learning competencies. Conduct quality audits to ensure College standards are being met and maintained. Teach courses as assigned per semester adhering to the Seven Principles of Effective Teaching, Community of Inquiry Framework, IS/IS NOT Statements, Rigor Standards Framework, Bloom’s Taxonomy. Meet formal classroom observation criteria. Initiate and monitor program and/or course retention and graduation analysis and recommendations for improvement strategies. Adhere and uphold, and comply with all established operational policies and procedures. Ensure faculty adhere to classroom responsibilities as outlined in the description. Ensure all course section final grades are posted on time. Lead training opportunities with faculty such as through faculty meetings and/or discipline specific meetings to improve student-learning outcomes and to introduce new initiatives. Organize and facilitate meetings under the guidance of the Dean. Attend team professional development web calls/workshops, etc. Stay current in field, and help integrate currency into classroom. Document professional development and learning in an electronic portfolio. Serve on campus committees and participate in campus events. Attend mandatory meetings. Work with and support Career Services as assigned.Qualifications/Competencies:
Master’s degree in Nursing. Three (3) years’ experience in Nursing education at the college level within the last ten (10) years; instruction in educational theory or Nursing Education preferred. Must have a minimum of two (2) calendar years work experience as a nurse and current Virginia RN license or eligibility for a Virginia RN license. Expertise in a clinical area. Demonstrated leadership skills, integrity, and ethical practice with emphasis on problem solving, conflict management/ resolution, adaptability, creativity, and sensitivity to diversity. Willingness to self-assess, take feedback, and incorporate results into practice. Ability to recognize and proactively address areas of opportunity and challenge. Documented management experience in an educational setting. Proven administrative, evaluative, analytical, strategic thinking and organizational skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Internet applications. Proficiency with other technologies currently used in Nursing profession.
