This position oversees the Professional Peace Officer Education (PPOE) academic and customized training programs. Deans are responsible for developing, recommending, and implementing policies, procedures and practices that align with college/system requirements. Specific responsibilities include responding to student issues, program review, faculty evaluations, divisional operations, customized training, and ensuring the delivery of curriculum to prepare students to become culturally responsive officers and successfully pass the state peace officer standards and training (POST) licensing examination. The position works closely with peace officer program faculty, customized training representative, and the Academic Dean to fulfill a vital role in developing relationships between the community, other institutions, and local and regional law enforcement agencies. including program/ courses. This position also supervises the Public Safety and Police Science Center staff, customized training representative, faculty and role players. The position plays a vital role in developing relationships between the community, other institutions, and local and regional agencies. **Minimum Qualifications** ***** Bachelor’s degree with a major in law enforcement, criminal justice, or related field * POST eligible and currently or previously licensed * Five years of full-time licensed peace officer experience * Demonstrated higher education leadership experience * Experience with customized training peace officer education * Direct experience working with Minnesota POST board in an official capacity * Demonstrated experience working with populations of diverse people * Excellent verbal, written, and public speaking communication skills **Preferred Qualification** * Ten years of full-time licensed peace officer experience * Previous teaching or training experience in law enforcement, criminal justice, or related field Two years of supervisory experience * Prior experience as a PPOE coordinator * Direct experience working with Minnesota POST board in an official capacity **Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)** **Monday - Friday** **Telework (Yes/No)** Hybrid **About** Founded in 1972, Hennepin Technical College is the largest technical college in Minnesota.
