Job Description
The Associate Director of Advanced Analytics for Medical Affairs will be responsible for leading the integration of advanced analytics to drive actionable insights for Medical Affairs strategies. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with deep expertise in analytics, statistical models and machine learning, who can synthesize diverse data sources to provide a forward-looking view of trends, opportunities and risks. Working cross-functionally, this individual will translate complex data into clear, actionable insights that enhance scientific communications, support decision-making, and elevate Medical Affairs omnichannel initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Translate business questions into analytics techniques (regression classification, NLP, etc.) and interpret outcomes of analytical models into meaningful business insights and actionable recommendationsApply advanced statistical & ML techniques and concepts (model selection and hypothesis testing, statistical inference, promotional response modeling etc.) based on real-world applications experienceTake proactive lead in driving data and analytics fluency within Medical Affairs and championing integration of advanced analytics across initiativesIdentify, prioritize and design roadmap of global analytics capabilities and centralized deliverables including but not limited to segmentation, social listening, sentiment analysis, scientific share of voice, analysis of real-world data to identify gaps in care and areas of unmet medical need, and predictive analytics to anticipate customer needs.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape and evolve the medical omnichannel solution roadmap and enhance evidence generation & dissemination strategiesWork closely with other members of data science, MLOps, technology teams in the design, development, and implementation of the ML model and evaluation solutionsDesign SOP, establish best practices and govern and manage reference documentation and knowledge sharing across global applications of advanced analyticsPresent key insights, models, and analytics tools to senior leadership, translating complex data into actionable recommendationsStay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies in data analytics ensuring solutions remain innovative and competitiveLead the ongoing evaluation of data sets and methodologies to improve predictive capabilities across medical affairsBasic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Life Sciences, or related field and 10 years of relevant business experience in analytics, digital analytics, management consulting or related field ORMaster’s degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Life Sciences, or related field and 8 years of relevant business experience in analytics, digital analytics, management consulting or related field ORPh.D. degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Life Sciences, or related field and 0 years of relevant business experience in analytics, digital analytics, management consulting or related fieldPreferred Qualifications
Master’s or MBA preferredStrong understanding of medical affairs operations, field team activities, and the pharmaceutical product lifecycle.Hands-on experience using healthcare claims datasets, electronic health records, and specialty pharmacy data in real world evidence and patient level data and advanced analytics – preferably in patient unmet need and care / treatment gap identificationTrack record in implementation of AI-driven initiatives within pharmaceutical industry, preferably within medical affairsKnowledge of machine learning techniques (e.g. supervised, unsupervised, deep learning) and their real-world advantages and drawbacksCapable of interpreting the results of predictive models, evaluating model performance, and translating findings into actionable insights aligned with brand strategyIntellectual curiosity and passion to learn new thingsExcellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to present complex data findings to cross-functional teams.Strong strategic and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing business needs.Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and align insights with broader organizational goals.
