Department Introduction:

LBRE Facilities Operations, previously known as Buildings and Grounds Maintenance (BGM), is the operations and maintenance side of the Land, Buildings & Real Estate organization. We function as stewards of campus physical assets and providers of support services. We manage over 10,000,000 SqFt of buildings and around 1,600 acres of a grounds portfolio.

 

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Executive Director of Facilities Operations, the incumbent will oversee and optimize the daily functions of their area to ensure efficiency and alignment with the department goals. This role involves developing and implementing operational strategies, managing cross-functional teams, and driving process improvements. The Associate Director is also responsible for analyzing performance metrics, identifying opportunities for growth, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Additionally, they will collaborate with executive leadership to align operational initiatives with the overall vision of the University, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation

Core Duties*: Lead the Planning & Scheduling and Coordinators/Admins teams to provide support for 160+ technicians and 50+ para/professional and management members for Facilities Operations. This work includes: Work Order Management Safety Shoe Program Uniform Program Operation Service Center Contract Administrative duties Manage the administration and evaluation of programs or functions. Oversee the interpretation, implementation and compliance with policies and regulations. Recommend actions and/or resolve complex issues that often span organizational boundaries. Routinely run/analyze reports related to work order management both by Ops and OSC to analyze trends, provide insight to key performance indicators. Partner with HR on onboarding/offboarding best practices. Implement onboarding/offboarding checklist unique to Facilities Operations. Manage LBRE Facilities Operations KPIs (Work Orders completion on time, Quick Response turnaround time, Work Load Analysis, etc..) Manage Customer Surveys Lead the Contracted Services team through managing the day-to-day services and the operating budgets. Contracts include (Janitorial, Elevator, Pest Management, etc.) Represent the program or function at the university level and/or to external/internal stakeholders and constituencies. Develop and manage outreach strategy that includes relationship development, communications, and compliance.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in engineering or other appropriate technical area, or combination of technical education, training, and experience. Five or more years of extensive relevant professional and managerial experience in an environment with a variety of building types (administrative offices, classrooms, laboratories, residential & dining facilities, auditoriums, etc.)

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Technical knowledge of best practices in facilities management discipline. Demonstrated experience developing and managing budgets and service contracts. Demonstrated experience planning, developing, and implementing programs. Demonstrated experience understanding and applying relevant codes, regulations, and processes.

 

Certifications and Licenses: None

 

Physical Requirements*: Frequently sitting, perform desk-based computer tasks, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds. Occasionally stand/walk, twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, use a telephone, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 11-20 pounds. Rarely kneel/crawl, climb (ladders, scaffolds, or other), reach/work above shoulders, grasp forcefully, writing by hand, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh >40 pounds.

Working Conditions: Requires 24-hour response availability seven days per week for emergency situations. May be exposed to noise > 80dB TWA. May working at heights 4 - 10 ft.

The expected pay range for this position is $143,719 to $173,095 per annum.

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
