Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) is the framework utilized to transfer interest rate risk and liquidity risk from the business lines to a centralized unit within Group Treasury; mitigating volatility related to these factors in business unit margins.
The Associate Director – Capital Markets (“the AD”) oversees the development and maintenance of FTP methodologies for Capital Markets Products including fixed income, equity derivatives and structured products framework.
The Associate Director collaborates with Group Treasury, GBM Treasury, and Capital Markets to align FTP methodologies with the bank's risk management and financial resource allocation strategies. This position requires a strong understanding of trading book concepts, fixed income and equity derivatives trading, collateral management, balance sheet drivers, regulatory developments, and business profitability. Additionally, this role requires deep knowledge of Capital Markets products and associated risks, and best practices in funds transfer pricing. The Associate Director is also responsible for monitoring and streamlining the intraday liquidity FTP methodology to ensure efficient liquidity management.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
Lead and drive a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge. Provide guidance to Global Finance to incorporate new/changes in methodology in reporting and planning processes. Maintain governance documents of key FTP processes. Provide support for: Developing and maintaining Capital Markets FTP methodologies, manage contingent liquidity cost methodologies and allocation for Capital Markets funding. Identify and analyze regulatory liquidity developments, funding requirements and incorporate relevant cost/benefit into proposals. Support Capital Markets product development and internal Capital Markets allocation groups such as FRM, XVA, etc. Lead operational improvements to be embedded in Finance processes, cash management project and intraday liquidity methodology. Analyze and design the Capital Markets collateral FTP methodologies including Variation Margin and Initial Margin framework. Manage FTP attributes within the data architecture to ensure accurate and insightful reporting for both disclosure purposes and informed decision-making. Assist Group Treasury Data Transformation initiative and strategy. Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Create an environment and pursue effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We’d love to work with you if you have experience with:
MBA /University level degree 5+ years financial institution experience or relevant experience, with knowledge of Capital Markets products. Understanding of profitability and financial analysis. Knowledge of the Bank's business lines, product offerings, interest rate and liquidity risk management concepts and principles, and regulatory environment. Proficient communication skills to present / discuss FTP subject matters with colleagues and business partners. Ability to quickly grasp new concepts in the presence of ambiguity. Knowledge of the Bank's trading systems and strong data analytic skills. Knowledge with SQL, Python or any data analytics tools.
