Job Description
The Associate Director, Site Contracting (AD) acts as the first line of contact for all R&D business partners and provides leadership to drive and implement the clinical strategy with a high level of expertise for multiple compounds across a large portfolio or therapeutic area (TA). This position collaborates and partners with Clinical Development Operations (CDO), finance, legal, OEC and other internal stakeholders to deliver services / clinical contracts for clinical trials leading strategy across the function to ensure key milestones are met or exceeded. The AD acts as line manager for multiple direct and indirect reports, who may be located across multiple countries and/or regions.
Responsibilities
In addition to the above, the position may also be required to lead on specific areas of focus such as:
Measurement & communication of functional performance via KPIs, & strategic planning & implementation of targeted improvements indicated.Leadership, Management & oversight of Service Provision (e.g. CRO flexible resource) deliverables across the function.Lead & oversee CSA Budget and Contract delivery for TA, project, or country.Compliance & Training liaison/lead for TA or region.Systems development & regional implementation SME.Compliance Manager for FMV process and compliance with AbbVie SOPs including but not limited to purchasing, R&D, payments, etc.Influences and strategically manages the linkages across multiple functional areas, including quality, CDO, legal, finance and OEC to drive the successful implementation of the R+D strategy within the global clinical trial environment. Leads the strategy for workload management across their direct reports to ensure key milestones are met for Abbvie clinical trials.Accountable for the development and implementation of plans to ensure negotiation of clinical contracts do not delay the critical path to start-up in the applicable countries and or TAs.Independently manages expectations and mitigates risk by providing strategic solutions and decision making for the function.Provides leadership, subject matter expertise and guidance to develop other team members and direct reports. Develops long-term staff to serve in future roles. Leads or contributes as a subject matter expert on multiple key projects, initiatives, and committees to identify and implement process improvements and standards.Serves as a liaison and provides leadership and guidance for the Site Contracting team, including direct reports on governance actions. Acts as the first line of contact for issue escalation related to contracts and budgets in their assigned area(s) of responsibility.Independently identifies, escalates, and manages performance issues and develops and implements strategic solutions to ensure overall performance, compliance, and quality.Provides information on key functional processes, updates, and improvements to promote understanding, partnership, and collaboration with key stakeholders.
*This is a remote position anywhere in the US or Canada. If local to any of our offices will be required to work a hybrid schedule.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; a Health Care, business or scientific discipline required (or equivalent work experience). Advanced degree preferredBroad, extensive experience (at least 10 years), in clinical research and/or contracting within the pharmaceutical industry is required. Excellent knowledge and understanding of compliance and regulatory matters in clinical research, pertaining to clinical contracting and investigational site activation. Experience of leading in cross-functional interactions and working within a global environment.People management experience and demonstrated ability to influence leaders, resolve conflict and effectively partner with other functions.Strong abilities in Contract Management with the ability to coordinate, flex and communicate priorities and strategic plans across multiple projects/program/timelines.Superior written and oral communication skills including written and verbal fluency in English and local language (if not English), with the ability to convey objectives and maintain open, effective lines of communication with internal and external stakeholders.Ability to build internal and external relationships to effectively and independently provide leadership across the wider team, to strategically drive the business and solve issues efficiently and to mitigate risk.Previous experience of managing multiple direct reports and/or virtual teams is required.Organizational skills necessary; ability to compartmentalize/prioritize is helpful.System skills a must: Excel for metrics and PowerPoint for presentations.Strong abilities in problem solving and solutioning, stakeholder management, and complex decision-making.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
