The Credit Provision Analysis and Measurement (CPAM) team provides Senior Management within Risk Management, Finance, Business units ( i.e. Capital Markets, Canadian Banking, I&TS, Wealth Management, Insurance, and legal entities) and Investor Relations with expert analysis and guidance on the Banks allowance for credit loss (ACL) and provisions for credit losses (PCL).As the Associate Director you will be the subject matter expert on ACL/PCL for performing loans, interacting with model development teams, credit risk experts to understand drivers of changes in ACL and provide valued analysis.

What is the opportunity?
The Credit Provision Analysis and Measurement (CPAM) team provides Senior Management within Risk Management, Finance, Business units (i.e. Capital Markets, Canadian Banking, I&TS, Wealth Management, Insurance, and legal entities) and Investor Relations with expert analysis and guidance on the Banks allowance for credit loss (ACL) and provisions for credit losses (PCL).
As the Associate Director you will be the subject matter expert on ACL/PCL for performing loans, interacting with model development teams, credit risk experts to understand drivers of changes in ACL and provide valued analysis.
What will you do?
Prepare RBC’s credit provisioning analysis (both retail and wholesale) and reports (including inputs to enterprise/segment financial outlooks/plans) and communicate results to stakeholders.Work with measurement, reporting and modeling team members to understand the assumptions used in calculation and reporting of credit provisioning, analyse results and help troubleshoot and resolve issues affecting the production of reporting responsibilities.Maintain strong communication with functional and business partners for timely identification and escalation of issues affecting credit provisioning results.Assist the Director in providing business and risk subject matter content and analysis for communication on credit impairment issues and information. Prepare reports for internal and external review and challenge.Develop requisite processes and maintain up to date documentation for auditors and investor relations.Comply with all bank policies including SOX controls as appropriate.Support GRM-Enterprise Risk’s broader mandate in articulating RBC’s risk appetite, setting limits, and carrying out enterprise-wide stress testing, as related to loan portfolio analytics.Keep abreast of macroeconomic, regulatory, accounting and other financial industry developments as they relate to RBC's credit provisioning (both wholesale and retail)..
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
5+ years of work experience and understanding of banking and risk knowledge (wholesale or retail credit or both), with cross-functional capability Risk and Finance. Educated to degree level in an analytical discipline such as Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, or Economics; or a combination of a quantitative undergraduate degree combined with an MBA.Strong ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, complex concepts in non-technical terms to business segment Finance and senior business segment leaders.Demonstrated self-starter who can tailor analysis to required level of precision (i.e. identify 80/20 answers),Works well with cross-functional teams (Risk, Finance), demonstrating strong teamwork, coordination, and people skills.Ability to develop and / or maintain a strong network of internal and external relationships to facilitate credit impairment decisioning.Nice-to-have
Quick learner with outstanding conceptual, analytical, and problem solving skills, with an ability to deliver under pressure.A thorough understanding of relevant accounting and regulatory rules and requirements (IFRS 9, Basel) preferred.What’s in it for you?
