Associate Director, Data Analytics

The Global Product Management (GPM) organization is responsible for driving the business performance of all research products. The Research Business Analytics (RBA) team, a part of GPM, conducts analysis related to all aspects of Gartner's Research & Advisory organization. This includes analyzing client value drivers such as research content, client interactions, and the role of research in conferences and events. RBA also supports the Research & Advisory (R&A) organization by providing analysis on client retention, associate performance, budget and financial analysis (in partnership with the Finance organization), and client demand sensing. Our team plays a critical role in providing data, insights, and analytical tools to enable fact-based decision making and drive continuous improvement in our business, both operationally and strategically.

We are seeking an experienced Data Analytics Lead who is a highly analytical problem solver, possesses a strong technical understanding of data and data systems, and demonstrates exceptional leadership skills to join our growing team.

This role will primarily be responsible for end-to-end ownership of deliverables related to client interactions, as well as associated assets such as proposal reviews and conference interactions. Initiatives and projects will involve tasks such as data definition, data extraction, technical understanding of Gartner data, analysis for insights, developing recommendations, visualizing data, and scaling through automated visualizations and reporting. Sample objectives are:

Build end-to-end dashboards that communicate the performance of our interactions including root causes and insights of upcoming trends, areas of bright spots and opportunity

Standardize and automate the ways we measure impact of each interaction across the entitled licensed user base considering target role / industry / geography and other factors

Build mechanisms to measure current performance and improvement opportunities for interactions including what metrics matter, e.g. Inquiry cycle time, Due date achievement, Topic coverage, etc.

Analytically determining diminishing returns on interactions volume and frequency (by role, topic, etc.)

In collaboration with other teams, improve interactions reporting (e.g., interactions scorecard, operation reviews), dashboards, and automation

What you’ll do: 

Build expertise to be the center of excellence on Gartner research and client interactions with deep knowledge of the data across source systems, the data warehouse, and dashboards / reports. Ensure the analysis is robust and reliable, providing data and guidance to other Gartner teams.

Partner with stakeholders from IT, R&A Strategy & Operations, Research Engagement Services, and Global Product Management to understand business needs and identify capabilities that enhance our analysis. Prioritize efforts based on business impact, fostering seamless communication and change management across relevant stakeholder organizations.

Structure and analyze large datasets to derive meaningful insights and actionable information.

Play an integral role in developing and continuously improving a methodology to measure client engagement and, thereby, impact of interactions for Gartner.

Execute on the approach to deliver functionality iteratively.

Be accountable for project plans / timelines, overall products (ex. KPI) including design and data infrastructure, prioritization for team and problem solving.

Continuous improvement: Proactively identify and implement improvement initiatives.

Communicate findings effectively, building outputs that clearly convey the root causes and provide a clear story for solving business problems.

Mentor other team members, providing guidance and support in their day-to-day work, and managing the workload across the team to ensure efficient and effective execution of tasks.
 

What you will need:

Experience: 5-7 years of progressive business experience involving advanced business analytics, complex problem solving, business strategy

Education: Bachelor’s Degree required. Degree with a concentration in statistics, data science, mathematics, engineering, computer science, or operations research preferred.

Exceptional problem solving: Proven track record of solving complex problems, critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and innovation. 

Strong technical understanding of data and skills to analyze as well as visualize it, including:

Ability to conduct statistical analysis to identify patterns and trends in data, ensuring objectivity and minimizing bias by applying appropriate models, methodologies, and calculations

Programming languages e.g. Python, R, SQL

Data visualization tools e.g. Tableau, Power BI

Attention to detail e.g. data hygiene, quality checks, documentation, etc.

Rigorous prioritization and working in fast-paced environments: Track record of success in environments with competing and continuously evolving priorities.

Collaboration and stakeholder management: Strong collaboration and influencing skills in a highly matrixed environment. Influencing stakeholders and team members based on a command of the facts, analysis, and implications.

Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication – structured, engaging and compelling.

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 110,000 USD - 144,900 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
