This position is responsible for leading and directing all tax matters associated with Lilly’s business development integration process, providing post-acquisition integration support for federal and state income taxes, including state indirect taxes, transfer pricing, and coordination with international teams for acquisitions outside the US. Additionally, this role will lead the analysis and review of Pillar 2 taxation and other OECD BEPS (Base Erosion and Profit Sharing) tax laws as required with a dotted line reporting to the Senior Director International Tax.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Integration
Provide tax leadership and technical advice associated with business development integration activities, including collaboration with and oversight of external service providersUnderstand the business development transaction in sufficient detail to identify and support post-close obligations, including collaboration and communication with Federal, State, US International, Transfer Pricing, International, and ETR teamsReview and sign-off on required workstreams associated with the acquired entity’s pre-acquisition stub period, including, but not limited to, the 382/383 study, transaction cost analysis, federal income tax return, state income tax return(s), and R&D tax credit analysisAttend pre-close integration planning meetings and provide tax support to integration designLiaise with external service providers regarding completeness of the acquired entity’s historical indirect tax filingsWork with acquired entity’s finance personnel to obtain financial information for post-acquisition income tax forecasting, compliance, and accounting, in addition to financial information to support indirect taxes (sales, use, and property taxes)Lead acquisition tax accounting process to detail tax reporting requirements and to determine opening tax account balancesDevelop business partner relationships with internal teams to support tax integration activities, including, but not limited to, requests for tax general ledger accounts to be established on local ledgers and accurately mapped to.SAP, coordination with internal departments to initiate training for newly onboarded employees to utilize the time-tracking tool for R&D tax credit purposes, communication with shared services center regarding withholding tax filings, collaboration with Corporate Accounting to establish separate SAP trial balances when more than one legal entity is acquired, and review historical accounting system to ensure Lilly can retain data as the need arises by law for tax audit purposes.(If) As operations are folded into Parent, advise/coordinate with Corporate Financial Reporting with respect to corresponding accounting (e.g., transfer of fixed assets, other assets/liabilities)Support divestiture activities as the need arisesInternational Tax
