**Job Description**

The Associate Director of Medical Excellence Learning and Development will be responsible for leading curriculum development and content creation of scientific training within the Medical Affairs therapeutic areas to ensure scientific personnel in all regions are able to demonstrate industry-leading scientific acumen. This is a global role that will report to the Head of Global Medical Excellence Learning & Development within the Global Medical Strategy and Operations team.
**Key responsibilities**
+ Leads development of the scientific curriculum and associated training deliverables for onboarding and ongoing training of Medical Affairs scientific teams across multiple therapeutic areas within Oncology, Virology, and Inflammation
+ Collaborates with cross-functional Medical Affairs teams to identify scientific training needs, align training with global strategic priorities, and ensure training meets local learner needs to drive exceptional performance
+ Collaborates with the Global Capability Curriculum lead within the Medical Excellence L&D team to ensure scientific content is trained in the context of how it should be applied in-role, aligned with the Medical Affairs external engagement model, role-based competencies, and overall Medical Affairs strategic priorities
+ Develops accurate, up-to-date, and engaging multi-channel scientific and skills training content by working with internal and external subject matter experts and vendors
+ Partners with Medical Excellence colleagues and regional/local stakeholders to implement live and virtual training programs, including facilitating training activities when necessary as well as running “train the trainer” workshops to enable teams to effectively deliver training
+ Manages training content library to ensure alignment with current training needs, including updating, archiving, or removing expired content
+ Measures and reports on training impact, effectively communicating learning outcomes to drive data-driven decision-making
+ Partners with Learning Operations to ensure training is appropriately organized, assigned, and tracked in the Learning Management System
+ Develops and implements communication plans to ensure learners and their managers understand expected learning outcomes, assignments, and accountability
+ Collaborates with Commercial Learning & Development therapeutic area training teams to identify opportunities for shared scientific training content creation
**Minimum Required Education and Years of Experience**
+ Bachelor's Degree and Ten Years’ Relevant Work ExperienceOR
+ Masters' Degree and Eight Years’ Relevant Work ExperienceOR
+ Doctorate Degree and Two Years’ Relevant Work Experience
**Preferred Knowledge, Experience and Skills**
+ 5+ years of related bio/pharma experience; experience working in a Medical Affairs organization preferred
+ Possess a high level of comfort with clinical and scientific content with a scientific background at the undergraduate or graduate level; advanced clinical (MD, PharmD, NP, PA) or scientific (PhD) degree strongly preferred; experience in Oncology and/or Virology strongly preferred
+ Experience developing scientific curricula and training scientific/medical staff; experience creating engaging scientific training content and instructional design skills preferred
+ Exceptional presentation, facilitation, and written communication skills
+ Demonstrates a high level of experience and comfort interacting with and directing all levels of employees from multi-cultural backgrounds; experience on a global team preferred
+ Forward-thinking change leader able to influence without authority, drive consensus, resolve conflicts, and navigate ambiguous and complex problems to achieve measurable results
+ Able to build effective relationships with departmental leaders across functions and geographies
+ Proven project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities at once and manage stakeholder expectations
+ Possesses strong digital acumen and comfort with using & teaching new systems, processes and tools
+ Ability to travel for team meetings, live training programs, and other in-person events

The salary range for this position is: $195,670.00 - $253,220.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
