**Purpose:** As the **Associate Director, R&D Strategy & Portfolio** , you will play a critical role in shaping our future strategy and driving the operational execution and implementation of our portfolio strategy. You will serve as a key analyst and advisor to the Director, R&D Strategy, Portfolio and Operation and to the overall Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine R&D Strategy, Portfolio and Operation Team. **You will be responsible for:**
+ Conducting Portfolio Analyses to inform JJIM R&D portfolio decision making: Develop & maintain views of the end-to-end portfolio that will enable leaders to have portfolio context while making decisions. Create relevant portfolio views that acknowledge and align to the needs of different senior audiences, communicating strategic themes as well as recommendations to maximize portfolio value.
+ Provide strategic input to further expanding the portfolio management vision for R&D including deeper understanding of compound and TA/DAS strategies, development alternatives, and portfolio trade-off insights to senior management.
+ Contribute to strategic analyses & special projects that influence R&D portfolio strategy & execution. Establish highly collaborative, cross functional relationships with key stakeholders both within and across JJIM R&D.
+ Establish strong and enduring relationships, as well as building seamless exchange of information with key partners within Strategy, Portfolio and Operation (SPO), Global Commercial Strategy Organization (GCSO) and Finance to support LRFP, Strategic Plan, Business Plan, and MBR etc.
+ Support portfolio prioritization: Contribute to the R&D Portfolio Prioritization Process. Develop complimentary quantitative & qualitative frameworks to enable portfolio prioritization. Interpret portfolio progress & develop critical insights to inform prioritization. Integrate project level detail into a cohesive end-to-end portfolio story. Monitor & understand dynamic portfolio changes and its impacts on portfolio decisions/recommendations.
+ Contribute to critical R&D strategic initiatives as a strategic leader with a broad understanding of the business, pipeline and external views. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution.
+ Maintain the tracking of JJIM R&D portfolio key milestones and achievements and share with broader organization.
+ Provide routine and ad hoc portfolio updates and analysis to support R&D Portfolio Subcommittee, R&D SLT discussions, DAS Review, EC, GOC, and STC etc.
+ Work with portfolio strategy team to analyze industry benchmarks, trend and competitive landscape to support portfolio analysis and portfolio prioritization.
**Qualifications:**
**Education:**
+ Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in scientific field with a minimum of 8 years of experience in a pharmaceutical R&D environment is required. Advanced degree is preferred. Less than 8 years of experience may be considered for candidates with advanced degree.
**Required:**
+ Proven experience supporting major initiatives in pharmaceutical R&D is required.
+ Proficient in analyzing and synthesizing complex data is required.
+ Ability to interpret data to drive insights and inform decision making is required.
+ Excellent communication and collaboration skills is required.
**Preferred:**
+ Experience in assessing technology, market environment, and R&D process requirements to drive efficiency and process improvements is preferred.
+ Prior knowledge of JJIM R&D portfolio data, system and process is preferred.
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $120,000 to $266,800.
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
