Job Details:
General NotesThis is a temporary position with an end date of August 15, 2028. However, there is a possibility of extension beyond the end date, depending on business need and funding availability.
PurposeTo serve as the Associate Director of the Center on Municipal Capital Markets (CMCM). Working closely with the Faculty Director, contribute effectively to the overall strategic visioning, conceptual development, planning and execution of CMCM’s suite of programs and initiatives.
Responsibilities
Organize and engage in the strategic planning and visioning of CMCM including supporting the establishment of CMCM at the LBJ School;
Provide content area expertise in the municipal capital markets to develop a suite of curricular programs for CMCM tailored to undergraduate, graduate and non-degree seeking students;
Establish and manage collaborative/partner relationships with municipal finance organizations in the public, private and non-profit sectors in support of experiential training and professional networking programs for LBJ students;
As needed participate in the drafting of commentaries, technical reports, and op-eds related to specialized municipal capital market topics;
Help organize CMCM’s annual conference, webinars, workshops and ad-hoc speaker-events;
Serve as a resource to the Texas Legislature, federal regulatory market organizations, the media, policymakers in other jurisdictions, and other stakeholders on municipal capital market issues;
Help manage the 20-member CMCM Advisory Committee comprised of national leaders in the municipal finance sector;
Work collaboratively with the Center Faculty Director on strategic financial decision-making for the Center including on all fundraising efforts;
Oversee the day-to-day administrative and financial management activities of CMCM including working with LBJ communications team on all marketing, website development and social media activities;
Develop and teach two public finance courses per academic year at the LBJ School;
Other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to finance. National leader in the municipal capital markets field. Excellent writing and oral communication skills, especially communicating with a policy audience. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with key stakeholders and executive leaders in various finance organizations. Eligible to serve as instructor for LBJ School courses.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a field relevant to finance. Previous teaching experience at the higher education level. Fundraising experience.
Salary Range$140,000 + depending on qualifications
Working ConditionsUsual office environment or online. May work on multiple projects concurrently, under pressure of rigid deadlines and time limitations. Extended hours, evening, and weekends may be required. Availability to travel within Texas and outside of Texas.
