What is the opportunity?
In this role as a key member of the global Financial Resource Advisory team the successful candidate will act as a subject matter expert for the Wholesale businesses, developing balance sheet analytical expertise and forward looking analytical support as well as planning and forecasting of Capital Markets’ Balance Sheet.
The candidate will collaborate closely with Business, Advisory, Performance Management and Corporate Treasury, identify and implement optimization efforts across the financial footprint to maximize resource optimization and returns.
In addition to the above, the candidate will proactively be involved in several emerging regulatory and business projects and will collaborate with Enterprise Risk, Corporate Treasury and RBC Head Office on crucial initiatives.
What will you do?
Develop a center of expertise related to Balance Sheet and Funding & Liquidity metrics to advise, educate and inform a wide audience of stakeholders, with an overarching goal to initiate and implement financial resource optimization efforts to maximize resource utilization and returns.
Advise business stakeholders on areas of potential risk and capital optimization and collaborate with key stakeholders to implement optimization efforts.
Enhance in-depth Wholesale businesses balance sheet analytics to support emerging regulatory environment and strategic business growth.
Partner with SMEs across the bank (such as Corporate Treasury, Group Risk Management team, etc) to proactively propose potential impacts/initiatives for Wholesale businesses related to the emerging regulatory environment (i.e. Basel III capital, funding and liquidity). Manage and develop risks and returns ratios under these constraints; identify red flags and implement processes to ensure the potential impacts of such developments and potential mitigating actions are communicated to CM OC for timely decision making.
Work closely with various groups across RBC e.g. RBC HO Performance Management, Corporate Treasury, Capital Management and Market & Credit Risk in providing insightful analysis of the key drivers and trading/non-trading and on/off balance sheet growth and conduct deep-dive analytics.
Manage the planning, forecasting and strategic business (and legal entity) reviews of CM balance sheet, Risk Weighted Assets (RWA) and leverage exposure in collaboration with BU Advisors and report on the overall quarterly/annual results
Provide proactive support to diverse balance sheet related projects such as stress testing, scenario analysis, in-depth business/legal entity analysis and new business proposals, driven by various stakeholders across CM, RBC HO and/or OSFI.
Develop and maintain various analytical models and drivers to proactively identify growth impacts on the balance sheet, clearly identify incremental value of key balance sheet lines and the potential impact on RWA / leverage exposure growth.
Get involved with various projects as required and support and prepare monthly, quarterly and annual Head Office and Investor Relations related materials to report on consolidated CM business results, ad-hoc analysis and potential impacts and sensitivities.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
CA-CPA or CFA designation holder
Other accounting or finance designation, FRM, MBA or equivalent related designation preferred
3+ years of high level involvement in Financial/management reporting
Excellent leadership, communication, analytical and project management skills
Ability to work independently and manage numerous priorities simultaneously
Proficiency with computer applications, such as Excel, PowerPoint; VBA knowledge also preferred
Strong expertise in developing and applying financial models to analyze data and enhance reporting
Nice-to-have
Exposure to Capital Markets and understanding of RBC CM business
Knowledge of RBC financial systems and associated procedures
