Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Associate Director for the Center for Asian Health Promotion and Equity (CAHPE) housed within the Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research (IFH). Rutgers-NYU CAHPE is an interdisciplinary collaborative institute consisting of faculty, research staff, and early and new investigators and their research and community mentors. Since it was established in 2021 with core funding from the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD), CAHPE is becoming one of the nation’s premier research centers focused on critically important health and wellness of Asian American individuals and communities in New Jersey/New York and beyond through promoting and supporting high quality and enduring inter-disciplinary research among Asian adults.

The specific aims include: 1. develop, improve, and evaluate infrastructure to support and synchronize the pilot and center projects; 2. implement two interdisciplinary, translational, and synergistic R01-like projects in cardiometabolic and mental health; 3. develop and implement educational programs and award pilot projects to raise next generation researchers in interdisciplinary and translational health research for Asian Americans; 4: engage local regional and national Asian communities and other stakeholders and their members throughout the research process including developing research agenda, interventions, implementation and dissemination. CAHPE will provide leadership, infrastructure, and evaluation systems designed to achieve the overarching goals of creating research programs that meet the community’s needs. The Center and its parent Institute provide a rich collaborative environment for conducting cutting edge social science research.

Among the key duties of the position are the following: Supports the NIMHD-funded P50 center focused on Asian health equity and developing the next generation of productive scientists focused on Asian health equity issues. Oversees the day-to-day administration of programs, projects, and/or processes regarding the planning, preparation, evaluation, and control of communications, events, records, statistics, reports, and documents. Oversees the operations of related research projects including people, budget, and facilities and will support the associated research activities of the center, including but not limited to assisting in submission of grant applications. Supports program operations, including logistical management of the core centers, pilot research studies, award set up and management, organizing center and study specific meetings, and developing/implementing the supportive programs for pilot scientists. Responsible for the operational and financial planning and management of the grants and contracts within the Center’s research portfolio, working closely with the Institute’s business office and Center Principal Investigator(s). Identifies and develops new program funding opportunities. Develops and oversees the implementation of a strategic plan for the Center, working closely with the PIs of the Center.
