Associate Director - Connected Battlespace AI and Data Architect (Onsite)

The Advanced Technologies & Capabilities group is looking to hire an experienced AI & Data Architect professional with deep knowledge in data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to support the Connected Battlespace & Emerging Capabilities (CBEC) portfolio. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in military operations, command and control systems, and collaborate with military personnel and stakeholders to optimize command and control processes. The ideal candidate will also leverage data & AI to drive strategic decision-making, integrate advanced technologies to enhance mission effectiveness and develop innovative solutions to complex defense operational problems for the Connected Battlespace strategic initiative contributing to impactful programs and demonstrations that brings our networked battlefield capabilities to life, speeding their transition to the warfighter.  

The successful candidate will be part of a distributed team composed of professionals from several disciplines and must have the ability to function well, both alone and with others, and have strong interpersonal skills with an executive presence 

This position may require occasional travel (up to 20%.).  

What You Will Do:

Collaborate with leaders across Mission Systems and beyond to integrate AI solutions into JADC2 systems and processes, and to large scale demonstrations 

Communicate and implement the DOD vision on Data with leaders across Mission Systems and the CBEC portfolio 

Rapidly support and demonstrate new AI technologies to support the business key strategic initiatives, sometimes developing new processes along the way  

Identify opportunities to advance the technology portfolio resulting in enhanced products to meet our customers future needs  

Lead AI & Data technology road mapping events and support integration into product line strategies for JADC2 solutions. 

Ensure the development and management of technical risks; develop and execute mitigation plans  

Exceptional technical strategic thinking and visionary skills with the ability to see the 'big picture' several years down the line 

Present your ideas to internal and external groups; lead proposal and white paper activities; and represent Collins Aerospace at technical conferences and working groups. 

 Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in data and AI, particularly as it relates to emerging technology and trends in command and control in military operations. 

Ensure compliance with international trade policies and procedures  

Ensure the protection of Collins Aerospace intellectual property; safeguard customer and supplier/partner intellectual property  

Selected candidate will be required to obtain and maintain special access program (SAP) clearance and/or an SCI clearance. 

 

What YOU Will Learn: 

Lead technology road mapping events, gaining strategic insight into integrating new technologies into product line strategies that redefine industry standards 

Manage technical risks and execute mitigation plans, refining your ability to navigate complex project challenges while ensuring successful project outcomes 

 

Qualifications You Must Have:

Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 12 years  experience in data analysis, machine learning, AI application.  An Advanced degree with minimum 10 years experience. 

Demonstrated experience designing and implementing machine learning models and algorithms to solve business challenges  

Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and their application in command and control environments. 

Executive level communication skills are required, as the AI & Data Architect works within and across mission area programs to be successful and serves as the single point of contact for Engineering activities.   

Able to work to influence others regarding discipline's practices, concepts, and approaches.  Requires ability to communicate with executive leaders on mission area strategic and tactical initiatives. The position also requires the ability to inspire and influence the program teams across Mission Systems to achieve the desired results. 

Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance or higher is required prior to start date.

U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. 

 

Qualifications We Prefer:

Technical expert level understanding of the operational environment as it relates to relevant technologies (AI/ML, C2, and data analytics). 

Familiarity with simulation and modeling tools for command and control scenarios. 

Direct recent experience working JADC2 

Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). 

Experience with big data technologies and data visualization tools 

Exceptional engineering analytical and decision-making skills with strong ability to be creative and innovative in designing solutions. 

Experience leading and training technical teams of junior to mid-level systems engineers and analysts and ability and balance development priorities with near/long term program objectives. 

Active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

The salary range for this role is 143,000 USD - 287,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
