Would you like to join us in this mission? We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join us as an Associate Director or Director, Japan Value & Access.
The Japan Value & Access (V&A) Associate Director or Director is responsible for the development and execution of value and access strategy for Kite’s CAR Ts in Japan and V&A deliverables, collaborating closely with Local, Regional and Global teams to ensure efficient execution and alignment. This individual will regularly align with key stakeholders from the local Commercial, Medical, and External Affairs (i.e., Public Affairs and Government Affairs) teams for understanding of external evidence generation needs and is able to problem solve from both a regional and local perspective, finding solutions that align both with global strategies as well as local specifics. This individual will also execute projects with the support of the Japan cross-functional team and external vendors, and will communicate project findings to the Japan, Regional, and Global teams to ensure clear, accurate messaging and pull-through. Additional projects may include payer insight generation activities such as payer research and advisory boards and activities to inform Kite’s future pricing strategy. This role reports into the Market Access Head for Gilead Japan. The role is based in Tokyo.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with Brand Team, Marketing, Market Research, HEOR, Finance, Legal, Medical Affairs, Government Affairs and Public Affairs, and relevant global colleagues to lead the development of excellent V&A deliverables for Japan.Project manage, oversee the development of robust V&A deliverables which may include NHI pricing dossiers, health economic models, publication, cost effectiveness assessment model and reportHelp support the creation of External Affairs’ materials (e.g., through material/contents review)Collaborate with partner vendors as well as with asset leads and country colleagues to manage internal review and seek approvals where necessaryCollaborate with key Regional and Global counterparts to ensure smooth exchange of information and seamless strategy alignment.Ensure efficient two-way communications with Regional Value & Access to maintain alignment with Global strategy and initiativesPartner with local Medical Evidence Generation and HEOR colleagues to understand their needs of Health Economics Modeling needs, publications etc., and to remain up-to-date on global activities and available evidence and align on evidence needs for JapanWork with local team to develop robust pricing proposals for Regional Pricing Committee deliberation and facilitate Global price evolution planning for JapanProvide input into business cases and requests for information as necessarySet milestones and ensure successful and timely delivery of key market access projects for cell therapy products, including:Core value models / reimbursement dossiers to demonstrate the value of Kite cell therapy productsPayer insight generation activities including payer research, advisory boards, and publicationsActivities to inform Kite’s future pricing strategies for new indications of inline cell therapy products as well as pipeline assets in new therapeutic areasEnsure that the local market access activities comply with regulatory agencies, public policies / guidelines and with corporate policies and procedures.Maintain a current understanding of local payer needs and monitor the future competitive / regulatory / pricing landscape to proactively adapt company strategy to emerging trends in the reimbursement and drug pricing landscape.Engage in policy shaping activities through PhRMA and/or FIRM to advocate for the value of CAR T and an improved access.Basic Qualifications
Industry experienceAdvanced scientific degree (i.e., MD, PharmD, PhD) and 8+ years of biotech/pharmaceutical industry experience ORMaster’s Degree and 10+ years of biotech/pharmaceutical industry experience ORBachelor’s Degree and 12+ years of biotech/pharmaceutical industry experienceV&A (market access) experience: strong track record in successfully leading and delivering core market access deliverables (as described above) within the pharmaceutical industryPrior corporate experience in hematology/oncology therapeutic area is highly preferredTechnical, interpersonal, communication skillsExcellent technical reading, writing and communication skillsPresentation and thorough research experience with market access customersThorough understanding of the policy and reimbursement environment and existing barriers to cell therapy adoptionExperience to work in complex matrix environments with the ability to navigate and influence stakeholders across different cultures, geographies and functionsHighly motivated to function proactively, operate with a sense of urgency, bring tasks to completionAbility to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as a key contributor to multi-departmental teams simultaneouslyExcellent and demonstrable command of written and spoken English and Japanese and proficiency at communicating verbally and in written form Availability to travel up to 20% of the timePreferred Qualifications
A minimum of 8+ years’ experience in the industry, specifically in health economics and outcomes research, with clinical background/research experience necessary to support Japan Value & AccessPrior experience in CAR T therapeutic areaDegree in Pharmacy, Health Economics or Life Sciences (e.g., PhD)Company Overview
