Associate Director Engineering (m/w/d)

At Lilly in Germany, we are currently planning and building a high-tech production facility in Alzey (Rhineland-Palatinate), which is expected to expand our production of injectable drugs from 2027 and employ up to 1,000 skilled workers. Assoc. Director Engineering (m/w/d)

The Assoc. Director Engineering is responsible for setting strategies and objectives for his or her area within the Alzey Facility.  The Assoc. Director partners with other leaders to influence and implement the organization’s functional agenda, Business Plan priorities, and GMP Plan objectives for the Site.  The Assoc. Director is responsible for developing employees as necessary to meet these business requirements.

Develop, mentor, coach, and recognize employees within their organizationDevelop and implement business plan objectivesTrack team performance in executing and completing objectivesEnsure proper resources and tools are in place to execute team objectivesStaff the team with personnel capable of meeting business needs and objectivesAct as role model in demonstrating Lilly’s core valuesBuild and drive safety and quality culture within organizationRemove barriers that impact team performanceProvide technical input/support, as requiredDevelop local processes and procedures in accordance with the FUME (Facilities, Utilities, Maintenance and Equipment) systemAssure an adequate number of qualified resources to perform asset management processesMeet the requirements of the FUME System through execution of local processes and procedures.Use and encourage Lean tools to achieve success

How do you convince us?

Recognized strong team leadership skillsTechnical competence in area of responsibility (typically 5 years’ experience, or more)Strong problem-solving and analytical skillsAbility to communicate effectively at all levels (both oral and written)Strong talent development skills, especially coaching and people developmentIn-depth knowledge of regulatory compliance (GMP, OSHA, etc.)Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, working safely and accountable for supporting all HSE Corporate and Site Goals.Manufacturing experiencePrevious supervisory/leadership experienceMinimum of a Bachelor's degree, preferably a Master's degree or equivalent in Engineering, IT, or related fieldOccasional travel may be required when in operation, but more frequent travel required in the first 18 months.
