Associate Director for Public Affairs

The central work of Public Affairs is to build strategic relationships with opinion leaders who affect the reputation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and whose actions and influence can help or hinder the Church's mission. Builds and maintains key relationships with nationally and internationally influential opinion makers. This includes those in government, news media, politics, academia, other religious organizations, ethnic minorities, etc. Facilitates the interaction of Church leadership with these audiences. It is therefore strategic in its emphasis. Additionally, it includes the function of initiating and disseminating news of the Church, and responding to breaking news, major issues, media inquiries, stories and TV/radio news programs. Also trains and assists local priesthood leadership and members serving in public affairs callings.
