Associate Director for Residence Life and Housing

Position Summary:
This associate director is a live-off position that is responsible for room assignments, billing, technology, and operations within the Residence Life and Housing department. The associate director also serves as the primary contact with student accounts, disability resources, and facilities management, as well as students and parents regarding housing concerns.

Major Responsibilities:
Data Management and Technology
+ Coordinate room assignments for all new students (approximately 1700), including designing and facilitating room deposits, online room selection ( RSP ), and new student auto assignment process each semester.
+ Implement Banner updates and processing assuring timely updates/changes to housing and billing records for residential students including room changes, room charges, billing, waivers, refunds, assignments, and damage assessments
+ Act as primary administrator of housing software
+ Provide occupancy statistics and projections for the department
+ Create and maintain housing policies that impact occupancy, retention, and tripling to prevent under-occupancy
+ Represent Residence Life and Housing on the Banner User Group, Banner Calendar Committee, Academic Disqualification Committee, and other committees related to the use of student information
+ Communicate regularly with administrative computing staff to implement Banner updates and make sure that housing exports are functioning and accurate
+ Manage and expand the use of technology to improve efficiency with office technology and student satisfaction
+ Supervise updating and printing of housing and office publications and all communication to students, parents, staff, and the college, as well as continuous updating of the RLH website and social media
+ Responsible for coordinating the staff waiver process with financial aid
Housing Operations
+ Direct the housing program for new and returning students, which includes room assignments for new and returning students, as well as room changes, changes in housing status, and facilities management
+ Facilitate billing for all residential students which includes working with student accounts and information resources to ensure accurate information
+ Regularly assess housing processes and procedures for continuous improvement
+ Coordinate emotional support animal process to include requirements for pet owners, and notification to campus constituencies as required
+ Coordinate medical housing accommodation process for new and returning students working closely with Student Disability resources
+ Manage release from housing process
+ Manage off-campus approval process
+ Oversee opening and closing of halls to include early arrivals/late stays
Supervision
+ Supervise assistant directors of residence life and housing
+ Supervise live-in professional staff and their associated buildings and hall staff
+ Lead, manage, supervise, and support the development of supervisees in a manner that is appropriate to each individual and consistent with respective Bargaining Agreements and College policies and procedures. Collaborate with Human Resources to address and resolve concerns regarding employee performance, misconduct, or other personnel-related concerns
+ Recommend hiring and renewal or permanent appointment for supervisees as appropriate. Develop and discuss performance programs and conduct performance evaluations in a timely manner consistent with the employee’s respective Bargaining Agreement and College policies and procedures
+ Serve on the central staff on duty rotation
+ Assist with annual reports
+ Supervise Assistant Director for Operations to include communication with Facilities and Operations staff related to maintenance and update of the residence halls, coordination of repairs and projects, coordination of renovations and facilitation of timelines, distribution of room keys, maintenance of card access procedures and policies, supervision of sustainability efforts, and repair and replacement of hall furniture and equipment.
Collaboration
+ Serve as the primary partner and liaison with a variety of constituents both established and newly created to continue successful working relationships and foster new opportunities for the Office, Division, and the University, including Student Accounts, Facilities, Operations, Services, Registrar, Financial Aid, Information Resources, Campus Technology Services, Student Disability Resources, Admissions, Title IX and Human Resources
+ Build relationships and cultivate a strong positive, inclusive and productive working environment
+ Serve on both departmental and campus committees as deemed appropriate by the director of Residence Life and Housing
+ Regularly and actively participate and lead trainings related to responsibilities
+ Provide appropriate updates to colleagues in RLH
+ Focus on building relationships and cultivating a strong, positive, inclusive, and productive working environment
Required Qualifications:
+ Master’s degree
+ Five years of experience within a higher education setting
+ Supervising experience
+ Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
+ Residence Life and/or housing experience
Preferred Qualifications:
+ A master’s degree in a related field (e.g., Student Affairs, College Student Personnel, Higher Education, Counseling, etc.)
+ Experience managing housing occupancy
+ Experience partnering with multiple college offices to benefit student success
+ Experience with Housing Software (currently Housing Cloud), and/or Banner
