Associate Director For The Peer Coaching Programs (Academic Student Support Manager) **POSITION DETAILS** **ABOUT JOHN JAY COLLEGE** John Jay College of Criminal Justice is a senior college of the City University of New York (CUNY) and an internationally recognized leader in educating for justice. The College seeks staff and faculty members who thrive in multicultural academic environments and are committed to access and excellence in higher education. **POSITION OVERVIEW** The Associate Director for the Peer Coaching Programs (Academic Student Support Manager) designs and oversees the Peer Success Coaching to support Undergraduate Foundations and Transfer and Upper Division student Success Programming at John Jay College. The Peer Success Coaching Program supports the academic success and retention of over 3,000 students enrolled in First Year, Sophomore and Transfer Seminars each year through engagement events, success workshops, reenrollment communications, coaching and Progress Report outreach. The Associate Director for the Peer Coaching Programs supervises the Peer Program Specialist and is responsible for developing training materials and conducting initial and continual professional development for over 70 student workers and three professional staff. They identify and develop new initiatives that align with institutional student success goals and are responsive to academic momentum and retention trends of the student cohorts the peer program is supporting. They collect and analyze progress and success data and conduct assessment of both peer training and peer-led retention and success initiatives. TheAssociate Director for the Peer Coaching Programs is a partner and often the lead in sustained planning and frequent collaborations with other SAER and EMSA offices that support student success with either peer or professional staff to ensure coordination of services. In addition to overseeing the peer coaches, they also supervise one PT clerical staff, and two FT staff members. **RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:** + Design and manage cohort-specific programs to enhance student success, such as the Adelante Program, CUNY Justice Academy outreach, Sophomore Success Initiatives, and CREAR Futuros Sophomore Initiative. + Oversee the Progress Report initiative for First-Year and Transfer Seminars to monitor and improve academic performance. + Develop, train, and oversee the implementation of peer-led engagement and retention communication campaigns. + Maintain and manage a comprehensive database tracking peer campaigns and their outcomes. + Conduct evaluations to assess the effectiveness of peer success initiatives, ensuring optimal functionality. + Adjust program models and revise training curricula based on assessment findings to enhance student support strategies. + Collect and analyze data on retention and the impact of peer initiatives on student success. + Prepare detailed reports on program outcomes and progress for internal and external stakeholders. + Prepare budget proposals and reports for various funding sources. + Oversee fiscal operations and resource allocation for peer programs. + Train and supervise full-time Peer Program Specialists and part-time Peer Program Assistants. + Ensure staff are equipped to support and engage with diverse student populations effectively. + Serve as a resource for First-Year Seminar and Transfer Seminar faculty, providing guidance and support on student success strategies on behalf of program directors. **QUALIFICATIONS** Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required. **PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS** Master’s degree and experience in peer training preferred. **CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW** Manages a comprehensive support program to promote learning and academic success for a targeted student population. - Develops, recommends, and implements program goals and objectives to meet students' specialized needs; coordinates delivery of services across multiple functions, developing new programs and activities as needed - Advocates for students, and partners with academic and student support functions to ensure students effectively utilize programs and services; collaborates with counselors, mentors, and others assisting students - Maintains ongoing communications with targeted student population as well as department management, advisory groups, and external organizations - Collects data for, analyzes, and reports on activities and outcomes - Performs related duties as assigned. **CUNY TITLE** Higher Education Associate **FLSA** Exempt **COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS** $90,375 - $96,602 Salary commensurate with education and experience. **CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases.
