The goal of The Athletics Engagement team is to support the Athletics Department’s priorities and sport specific campaigns through volunteer management, stewardship and engagement activities.
The Associate Director of Stewardship and Engagement Communication is responsible for the design and execution of communication pieces for Athletics engagement and stewardship efforts including but not limited to creation of event invitations, managing the email system in MarketingCloud, managing the Athletics giving website and sending athletics specific stewardship pieces. Additional duties include, but not limited to:
Oversee all Athletics Development stewardship including weekly thank you (AD, SR. Director, Coaches), endowment reports liaison with OA, and student-athlete video thank you's.
Manage the strategic communication planning, including event invitation schedules of 70+ athletics engagement events per fiscal year and creating event invitations under the Georgetown Athletics branding.
Implement a social media strategy for engagement activities including graphic creation, writing follow up emails from appropriate department signatories following athletics engagement events, writing and sending weekly thank you notes on behalf of the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Sr. Director of Development for Athletics, and other stewardship communications.
Engage alumni, parents, fans, and friends by helping to ultimately grow support for Georgetown Athletics from each of the 30 sport communities.
Work directly with Athletics Development and Engagement teams to strategize criteria for engagement event invitation lists, stewardship of event attendees/donors, and providing information for key event registrants.
Communicate directly with the coaches’, senior sports administrators and sports information directors in order to design and implement key strategic communications and engagement initiatives.
Work closely with university partners to plan strategic engagement in Georgetown University’s eight major markets and communicate the deployment of the Director of Athletics, coaches, and athletics department administration.
Work alongside the Director of Engagement for Athletics Development and Associate Director of Athletics Engagement and Events in managing Athletic Department volunteer boards, including Hoyas Unlimited, the Hoya Hoop Club, and 19 sport support clubs.
Assist support club presidents and volunteers to communicate engagement events and activities for their respective community.
Work Interactions
The Associate Director of Athletics Stewardship and Engagement Communication reports to the Director of Engagement for Athletics Development. The main responsibilities include mass communication, strategic donor communication, event communication strategy and stewardship. This individual must be service-oriented, and is required to work closely with Advancement leaders and individuals throughout the Athletic Department. The Associate Director will work with coaches, senior administrators and volunteers to design and implement strategies, communications, and engagement initiatives. The Associate Director must be able to work and act independently in initiating contacts with communications partners. This individual must work in a team-oriented office and be able to provide the Director and team members key information.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum two years communication strategy experience
Digital communication and stewardship experience within an athletics or alumni related realm is preferred
Digital design experience in creating graphics for event invitations, social media graphics and email communication pieces
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to meet deadlines while managing several projects at once
Motivational skills are highly desired
Fundraising knowledge preferred
Highly organized and detail-oriented with a tremendous ability to adjust to the ever-changing needs of the Athletic Department
Ability to work on several projects and high level events simultaneously with very little supervision is expected
Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certifications
Must be proficient with standard computer applications such as the Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Creative Suite and G Suite by Google Cloud
Knowledge in Salesforce, MarketingCloud, ThankView and iModules a plus
Responsibilities associated with this position necessitate a willingness to work a great deal of evenings and weekends and work in intercollegiate athletics and occasional travel

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$47,586.00 - $87,558.13Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
