Our Digital Controls group is looking to lead the transformation into model-based software design with complex computation platforms. We are looking for talented embedded software engineers to help lead the way. You get to sit with the brightest innovators in the world and be a little cynical too. You will have the opportunity to work on many different technologies across a variety of avionics products from Flight Management Solutions, Cabin Management Systems to next generation aircraft connectivity and communication solutions, so not your typical repetitive workload.
The ideal candidate is someone with a deep knowledge, and highly developed technical expertise, who wants to build our advanced computation organization. The Associate Director will build, cultivate, and manage our strategic initiatives group which includes our model-based and multicore development teams.
What You Will Do
Develop the processes, methods and organizational health of the Digital Controls team specific to model based software development and multicore design/certificationCreate and refine multi-core software architectures for embedded controls and diagnostic systemsDevelop multi-core and model software standards and training for company-wide use.Ensure software meets performance metrics through utilization of instrumentation and benchmarksManage a team of professionals through:MentoringAssociate developmentOutsourcing oversightResource planningStrategic planningDevelop a strong customer centric culture which empowers the team through trustLead Associate Development initiatives and hire a talented and diverse teamConduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate associated the planning, design, development, and utilization of control and diagnostic systemsWhat YOU will learn:
You will be able to develop your leadership skills by establishing a strategic vision for the adoption of complex computation platforms and model-based development within the Digital Controls organization. You will work directly with our talented engineering team to drive results that help Collins in its never ending goal to redefine aerospace.You will learn about exciting aerospace products such as flight controls, engine controls, air management systems, among many other.Your work will be involved with the design, development, and verification of all products in our portfolio.You can become a subject matter expert in a number of different areas with exposure to the variety of businesses and products in an ever-evolving field. Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 18 years of relevant experienceU.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations requiredQualifications We Prefer
Proficiency in embedded computing systems/architectures, multi-core design & verification, and aerospace software product lifecycles.Bachelor’s degree in engineeringMaster’s degree and/or MBA5 years of supervisory experience leading engineering and/or technical support teamsStrong understanding of multi-core processor microarchitectures including cache implementation, instruction pipelining, memory coherency mechanismsExperience with RTCA DO-178C, DO-254, DO-331. and DO-297 or other relevant safety critical development guidanceKnowledge of industry standard computing technologies such as PCIe, VPX, EthernetWhat We Offer

The salary range for this role is 143,000 USD - 287,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
