Job Description:
The Associate Director of Student Involvement must have a passion for working with creative students, and excitement towards contributing to a positive, entrepreneurial, and vibrant campus experience. Reporting to the Director of Campus Life, the Associate Director of Student Involvement is a student-facing position that is responsible for effectively implementing the programs, organizations, and events that are managed on the Student Involvement team, including student clubs and organizations, student leadership programming, and day-to-day operations, and assisting with the Community Connector program. Delivering on the long-term strategy and vision that is identified by the Director of Campus Life, the Associate Director is responsible for implementing a dynamic, engaging, and fun campus experience that positively contributes to student recruitment, satisfaction and retention.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Director of Campus Life, works closely with the Associate Director of New Student and Family Programs to ensure that all pre- arrival programming and strategic planning is integrated, coordinated and connected, in order to fully advance the student experience.
Operationalize the long-term Campus Life strategy and vision that is defined by the Director of Campus Life, as it relates to the Student Involvement portfolio.
Directly supervise the Assistant Director of Student Clubs and the Assistant Director of Campus Life.
Responsible for creating and managing a leadership development program that best serves Berklee student leaders.
Coordinate leadership seminars, training, workshops and campus-wide events for students, student government organization, and other student groups and organizations.
Manage the development of a comprehensive student clubs and organizations process that contributes to advancing the student experience.
At times, serve as the co-staff advisor to the Student Government Association.
Serve as the advisor to the Caf Shows Organization.
Provide oversight and direction to the Community Connector student employee program.
Ensure that a dynamic marketing and communications plan is implemented to highlight programs and events available to students throughout the academic year.
Maintain oversight of the Commuter Student Lounge, including facilitating a robust calendar of programs.
Provide support, and direction to student groups, organizations and advisors through leadership, organizational and resource development.
Serve on various campus-wide committees as necessary and appropriate.
Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters degree in Higher Education Administration, Education or related field.
3-5 years of experience in Higher Education or related field.
Supervisory, project management, and assessment experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Ability to plan, direct, and evaluate a complex operation, using staff, time, funds, and other resources for the accomplishment of long-term and short-term goals of the institution.
Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public.
Ability to provide administrative guidance within area of responsibility, providing direct training and supervision as needed.
Ability to apply budgetary and fiscal planning techniques within financial constraints.
Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities.
Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information for the determination of procedures, solutions, and other outcomes.
Ability to communicate effectively -orally, by phone, in person, and in writing.
Ability to respond to emergency situations in a timely manner.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Associate Director will provide direct oversight and leadership to the Assistant Director of Student Clubs and the Assistant Director of Campus Life.
