The Pre-Health Resource Center at the University of Pittsburgh is devoted to pre-health education, establishing a preeminent educational and advising infrastructure to support students interested in health sciences fields. With a focus on the undergraduate student community, the Center builds upon strong interprofessional working relationships within the Schools of the Health Sciences.
In keeping with the University’s Personalized Education Initiative, the Center will ensure robust education, programming, mentoring, and advising for students aspiring to careers in the health professions and provide opportunities for students to:
Explore careers in health, health care, and biomedical sciencesLearn how individuals in different professions work together in the context of contemporary health and health care environments; andMake informed career choices with an understanding of the evolving health and health care delivery system, roles of individual health care professionals, and the importance of teams and teamwork in the care of patients and assuring the health of communities.PHRC advisors provide information, support, and guidance as students explore career options; develop competitive portfolios of educational, experiential, and extra-curricular experiences; refine interview skills; and prepare applications to graduate professional educational programs.

Sets strategy and monitors progress towards strategic and operational goals for the Pre-Health Resource Center (PHRC). Serves as the lead and primary spokesperson for the PHRC.Manages PHRC daily operations including space, budget, hiring, supervising, developing and evaluating staff. Directs the development, implementation and assessment of workshops and programs designed to prepare undergraduates for graduate/professional school application.Cultivates and leverages relationships with the schools of the health sciences to create and implement graduate and profession school preparation programs and activities.Directs promotion and marketing of PHRC programs and services among targeted University populations including students, departmental advisors, and science faculty.Manages PHRC engagement with prospective and new student program efforts.Fosters a culture of inclusive excellence and builds a supportive community for diverse pre-health learners.
